What if Rohit Sharma retired from tests after this series? Who would be the opener?

1. Rohan Kunnummal

2. Sai Sudharshan

3. Ankit Bawne

4. Prabhsimran Singh

Rohan & Prabhsimran are aggressive strokeplayers, Sai's technique is most compact, Bawne is your old school type batter.

Easwaran has already failed eye test. Don't think they will give him an opportunity.

Bawne is a no 4 or 5 these days... he should have played more for A team been very consistent over the years.  He's too "unsexy"

Kunnumal played for A team but seems to have lost form a but now

Prabsimran looks exciting

Would love to have someone who will take test cricket seriously for at least 4-5 years. That's becoming my number 1 hope above all other things.

i am worried too. too much money in IPl. ridiculous money for 3 month work. sure players train for it separately.

we might have to pick differently tbh

not all would be like bumrah siraj and shami. i think bcci need to step in and offer huge bonus incentives if players step up for test cricket. prioritizing tests where players are performing should earn more bonuses. Tthere has to be some incentive. why toil so hard for tests if you can earn easy money via IPL.

Personally I am hoping for some test specialists, like pujara ishant etc. Atleast 2-3 players in the team should have redball as their sole prospect and play county cricket etc. That only happens if they don't have other prospects, so a slow accumulator isn't the worst option imo. If he can give pujara 2012-18 kind of returns, nothing wrong with unsexy

I don't think he can play as an opener, but I don't think they should not give him a chance because of his old school batting. He is strongly built like Ankit Kalsi, Nikhil Gangta, unlike a skinny Padikkal type.

So just to digress, it would be nice to have a muscular player in the team after a while. But Sai Sudarsan seems fit either way.

muscles are not that important for test batting. they matter more for t20s
