SachDan
So who's going to be the next star attraction of world cricket? Who will replace the one and only Sachin 'God' Tendulkar, flamboyant personified Brian Lara and the 'King of spin' Shane Warne? There's already a 'superstar' in Indian cricket who's more so because of glitz and glamour and comes nowhere near the capabilities of those three gentlemen... We need one who'll stop our heart beathing once he sets his foot on the field...one who'll take most of our time imagining about his exploits...Who's he?There's KP from England,Clarke fom Aus,Smith from SA...but the thing is that all of them have been playing for quite a while still hasn't managed to capture the imgination of cricketing world fully. Being an indian and having seen his exploits in the first international season I think its going to be ROHIT SHARMA. Link to comment
flamy
wow, I hope he has the mental toughness to shoulder all these expectations... Link to comment
Temujin Khaghan
Man, there will be an epic battle for supremacy between two Indian rookies. One is an opener from Delhi, who uses his powerful cut shots against pacers and his lithe feet against spinners. Brett Lee, Murali, Steyn, Gul... you name them, this man has already sent them packing to the boundary line, many a time. Timing & footwork. The other is a middle order batsman from Mumbai. He is an equal to Laxman in style and a teenage Sachin in substance. He gracefully destroys bowlers all over the world. A little bit of a maverick with all the lap shots he perfectly executes. Wrists & Power So it is going to be an epic battle between these two. Rohit Sharma vs Gautam Gambhir not for the throne of the best indian batsman, but the world's. For the short term however, we have yuvraj, who in full flow will make pakistani bowlers pee in their pants. Skipper Dhoni who has a steady head on his shoulders, Sehwag who has no head but some muscle. We even have Raina, who has a lot of fans in the ICF... I dont know why the hell. But the kid has got a good pull shot up his sleeve. Link to comment
SachDan
When will Gautam stop poking out side the off stump? GG has to tighten his defence to be a successful player on all conditions. I like him to be India's permanent ODI opener. But tests? Link to comment
flamy
He has arrived. Gautam, I mean. Tests, ODIs, T20s. Permanent opener. Link to comment
SachDan
Flamy..on all conditions? pace, bounce, seam? he handles spin better than most of the openers. Link to comment
flamy
Yes...recently, he has been in excellent form in SA and Australia, and also England,..I think. Also, the fact that I don't see any other replacement for him. Link to comment
SachDan
No need for replacement....But what I doubt is his ability to be one of the best of his times. Link to comment

Rohip
Ishant Sharma, the way he owned Australia in Tests was unbelievable. Seeing an Indian bowler pinging down 150 kph lightning bolts was out of this world Link to comment

fineleg
:banghead: @this thread We dont need superstars. Just a bunch of good players who can gel well as a team like how the Rajasthan Royals did - no need for "big name" "glory driven" "world renowned" superstars The only thing that needs to be world renowned is Team India if it can successfully and consistently win Tests (and maybe other formats after we conquer Tests) Link to comment
