yaar come on...i read all your posts...and read #53 post again... there is no mention of Raina there... there is only one team from india..which is playing in Australia.. and Badrinath is the captain....when Patel returned to india...and Raina was sent as his replacement.. Now i see all other players playing...but Nor Raina..?

Post 53 was not about Raina. It was about the two Indians who are included in AIS squad on the basis of scholarship from MRF Foundation/Academy! Anyway, here is the Round up of the 1st round of 50 over matches: Emerging Players Tournament, Brisbane, 2nd day Badrinath pilots India to second-successive win Cricinfo staff July 15, 2008 India Emerging Players 5 for 272 (Badrinath 83*, Dhawan 75) beat Australian Institute of Sports 7 for 269 (Wade 115, Forrest 50*, Pankaj 3-58) by five wickets Scorecard Half-centuries by S Badrinath and Shikhar Dhawan helped India Emerging Players overhaul a target of 270 with ease against Australian Institute of Sports at the Fred Kratzman Oval. Matthew Wade's 115 rescued the Australians from a shaky 4 for 38 after opting to bat but his efforts weren't enough to challenge India as they coasted home by five wickets with nearly eight overs to spare. Pankaj Singh, the fast bowler, did the early damage to remove the Australian top order before Wade and Greg Moller staged a recovery with a stand of 70. Wade received good support from Peter Forrest who made an unbeaten 50 off 44 balls. Wade counter-attacked with a 93-ball knock to help his team to what appeared a competitive 7 for 269 in a match reduced to 48 overs-a-side. Moises Henriques, the right-arm seamer, struck early removing Ajinkya Rahane, but it was a stand of 126 for the second wicket between Badrinath and Dhawan which handed the initiative back to India. After Dhawan fell for 75, bowled by Aaron Raymond, Badrinath added 61 with Abhishek Nayar. Besides Henriques, who conceded 42 off ten overs with two maidens, the rest, especially the slower bowlers leaked runs and hardly troubled the visitors as they recorded their second straight win on tour. New Zealand Emerging Players 5 for 94 (Ingram 30*, Ryder 27, de Villiers 3-6) beat South Africa Emerging Players 93 (van Jaarsveld 34*, Ryder 2-10, Arnel 2-13, Scott 2-13) by five wickets Scorecard South Africa Emerging Players crashed to their second successive defeat as they tumbled to 93 against New Zealand Emerging Players at the Peter Burge Oval. The match lasted just 64 overs as a combined effort from the bowlers helped New Zealand gnaw through the batting before the captain Jesse Ryder and Peter Ingram led the chase. South Africa barely recovered from a precarious at 28 for 5. Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Wayne Parnell were the only batsmen to cross double figures and the total could have been far worse had New Zealand not conceded 20 extras, which included 12 wides. Brent Arnel, the seamer, was the most effective bowler, finishing with miserly figures of 2 for 13 off ten. New Zealand had a few anxious moments in their chase as the seamers Yusuf Abdullah and CJ de Villiers struck early blows to leave them at 53 for 5. However, Ingram and Corey Anderson ensured no further loss of wickets as New Zealand wrapped it up in the 28th over.

yeah..i know they were in MRF ...and are playing in AIS under some exchange program...and i think it is different from what we have as Border-Gavaskar scholarship program... actually i am more concerned about Raina doing well in australia... and i don't see him featuring in any of the two games played so far...and thus was my question..if he is at all in australia... i am following BAdrinath, Mishra, Tiwary and Raina ..on this tour..as these four as more likely to break into the Indian team in near future...and with Colonel in australia as well...i want to see Raina perform really well...and get into the test side ahead of Yuvi..:haha:

SA vs India, round 2, 50 overs, 17th July 2008 India loses its first match of the tournament by 5 wickets and they suffered this defeat at the hands of SA. SA won the toss and invited India to bat first. Indians got all out on just 80 runs in 28.1 overs with just three batsmen--Rahane, Badri and Ravindra Jadeja reaching double figures. Dhawan, Raina, Tiwari and Nayar failed to reach even double figures! Out of Indian bowlers Misra and Trivedi claimed 2 wickets each while Pankaj Singh took 1 wicket. But it was too small total to defend, and SA reached its target in 27.1 overs.

The other day we had played T20 on this same pitch and scored 87 runs against the same opposition while today we scored just 80 runs. SA had scored 93 runs vs the Kiwis in the one dayer on this pitch and India's score so far has been the worst. This shows one thing that our batsmen, even at this level cannot adjust themselves on tricky pitches as they are born and bred on super flat tracks. Even if there is something wrong with the pitch, batsmen should try to apply themselves. Our test players have played on many tricky pitches like that of Headingley, Melbourne, Bombay, J'berg, Kanpur etc. They didn't fall like nine pins, did they? If these players like Badri, Raina, Tiwai etc are promoted to tests one day, how will they fare on those tricky piches--50-60 all out? Anyway, at Israrel the India team completes a clean sweep. Good to see indian govt...supporting israel...and maintaining a cordial relations with them.. thay are an important military partner of GoI..and we should extend our hand...and support israel in developing the game of cricket there... it would be nice if BCCI annouces a scholarship for israeli kids to come and learn at NCA and MRF

Today they dropped Rahane and have made Kohli open the inning and he isn't doing that badly. He is still playing on 43. India lost its first wicket on 93 when Dhawan got out for 55. Right now Kohli and Badri batting with India at 105/1 in 22 overs, chasing 249.

:D to c kohli make 92. he did have some attitude problems, after winning u-19 wc, he thinks himself as a dhoni or tendulkar, but he should be able to correct that & get a chance in the indian team soon but :mad: to c raina get out for 0. although it is tough to come straight to aus & perform in ur 1st match. it happened earlier this year with manpreet goni as well in the cb series, when he got out for 2 in the 1st match, after that manoj tiwary didnt get any further chances in the cb series, which was being unfair to him for just 1 failure in a match which was on the day he had just landed in aus and kohli makes 120 as ind wins by 7 wickets in 41 overs:D

The Indian batsmen showed resilience to overhaul a stiff target of 249 with nine overs to spare a day after they were mauled by South Africa Emerging Players. While Kohli, who led India Under-19s' triumphant World Cup campaign earlier this year, stayed till the end to record the highest score in the tournament, it was Shikhar Dhawan who provided the early impetus. He dominated the opening stand of 93, before falling for 55. Captain S Badrinath and Suresh Raina were dismissed soon after but with Manoj Tiwary supporting Kohli with an unbeaten 60, India cruised to their second 50- over victory. Earlier, after being asked to bat, New Zealand made a competitive total thanks to opener Martin Guptill's century. Their No. 5 Greg Hay (44) was the only other batsman to make a significant contribution. In contrast, it was a combined effort by the Indian bowlers - the six that were used took a wicket each.
