The worst part is that Shubman Gill is all set to continue the trend. Hopefully, he is not going to come anywhere close to those landmarks so that will ensure next gen players are not stats obsessed. Him not getting selected in WT20 is a good start.

 

He should be told to focus on winning big matches rather than churning tons in meaningless bilaterals and becoming stats obsessed.

How do you tell him that when the team selected is full of stats padders and bi-lateral kings? You could've sent the message by selecting likes of Abhishek, Parag, Rinku etc.
