MP's angry with Chappel

MPs fume over Guru Chappell's comments NEW DELHI: Team India?s 106-run loss on Sunday has sent political tempers blazing. On Monday, Members of Parliament (MP), cutting across party lines, attacked coach Greg Chappell over his comments following the thrashing that Dravid and his men received at the hands of South Africa. One of them even threatened a privilege motion against the Australian. "If MPs are willing, a privilege motion can be moved against Chappell," Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Choudhary told a private news channel. Chappell, on Sunday evening in Cape Town, had said that he was not surprised by the sharp criticism from the MPs, following India's poor show in the One-dayers so far. The elected leaders were doing their job, the Australian had said. "I am not surprised. They (MPs) are paid to do so in Parliament," Chappell said, in the post-match press conference after India's 106-run defeat in the third One Day International. CPI MP Gurudas Dasgupta said the former Australian captain "had no business" to make such comments. ?Chappell doesn't understand the nuances of democracy,? he said. ?Let nobody lecture us,? Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee maintained.

These asshole politicians need to concentrate on serving the public rather than cricket. It is just a game.

Re: MP's angry with Chappel Here is a good one from Cricinfo's quote-unquote section..

"Chappell does not understand the nuances of democracy." Communist MP (yes, a communist banging on about democracy is a bit rich) Gurudas Dasgupta gets hot under the collar after Greg Chappell, reacting to news that his role was being discussed in parliament, said: "They are entitled to make any comment they like ... that's what they are paid to do in parliament."
