Changes required in Pak team

Recommended Posts

i think Yoyo should be made the ODI captain...and YK the test captain.. Yoyo seems to have lost interest in ODIs..captaincy will boost his energy perhaps... YK..IMO is the only player in the Pakistani team..who can have the hold on players..specially senior players.. and Pakistan should forget about tournaments...and should look to consolidate its team... they should rebuild their team again...and with proper selection and vision... their fans should forget about the results for next one year....blood in new young prospects...and give them time to prosper...

Well theres always that young Aussie(Pakistani born) opener thats a reserve for NSW Usman Khawaja, he was born in Pakistan but has lived in Aus since he was 4 or 5, so i guess he still qualifies to play for Pak. He's only young but definitely looks the goods from what ive seen, shaping up to be a talented cricketer, and he's a lefty.

Main changes, drop Malik as captain, i still feel he should be in the team, because he's a very good batsman Someone smack them sh!t out of Afridi seriously, is this dude retarded or something. Its the same old thing with him every single time, comes out and swings the bat, he needs to take a leaf out of Dhoni's book, come in look around for 15 deliveries and then smash or just drop him till he sorts himself out

Talking only ODIs as it has been months since they played tests and is going to another 6 months before they are going to play any, the team's state is not as pathetic as it is being made out to be. The huge problem facing Pakistan is lack of bench strength and they are not doing anything to address the issue. Very few new faces have been given chances and the ones who have only for a few games here and there. In subcontinent conditions they still have the makings of good ODI unit : 1. Butt 2. Malik as openers are a decent pair on flat tracks. Butt has promise and Malik can produce some very good ODI innings if he settles down over the first 30-40 deliveries. 3. Younis 4. Yousuf 5. Misbah 6. Akmal The above middle order is more than handy. Although Younis has not been very hot as an ODI batsman he brings a sense of urgency in the middle and Misbah is a very good batsman specially when he settles in. Akmal is good enough to play as a specialist batsman in ODIs. He has his run of brainzaps but can be a handy hitter. 7. Sarfraz Ahmed or some other wicketkeeper as his batting appears a bit shoddy. 8. Mansoor Amjad A better bet than waste of space Afridi. 9. Tanvir 10. Sami 11. Gul Gul is one of the better ODI bowlers, Tanvir is improving, and Sami was never too bad in ODIs. Getting Sami would also mean showing BCCI the finger and also add to the bench with Razzaq also becoming available. Most importantly, Pakistan should get rid of the likes of Afridi, Asif, and Akhtar. Regardless what many Pakistan fans believe they have been largely detrimental to their cricket. The rubble that takes the field from Pakistan is largely a result of the actions of players like these and the patronage shown towards them by their board and fans. There is very little depth in bench but the above side is not a bad ODI unit.

Good post but Malik can't bowl 10 overs so A Razzaq or Arafat has to come in for Akmal.

this will be a good xi for pak. most of the players like rana naved, razzaq, sami, hasan raza have been icl-ed nasir jamshed butt malik - not good enough to open. will fit great @ 3 younis khan yousuf misbah akmal/sarfraz mansoor amjad tanvir gul asif reserves: fawad alam, sohail khan, wahab riaz & some young batsman afridi needs to be kicked out. he is a waste of space. cant bat & against decent teams, he gets smashed around in bowling. a regular spinner like mansoor amjad needs to replace afridi
