Moronic stuff. That wicket destroyed all hopes of taking a lead.

Jamie Smith scored a century coming in at #7. We have bits and pieces all-rounders who score useless 30s and 40s. That is the difference. There will be set backs of any kind, if India depends on 5 specialistbats, it is always doomed. Carcus scores 50s and 40s at #9. We have NKR and Washy scoring cameos. Even with KL gone, the rest could have batted sensibly to get at least a 50 run lead. Useless team performance in batting is what we have.

Jamie smith is their best batsman in this series. ALl the others scored less than Indians. Carse is sort of an all rounder who has a couple of centuries in first class. That is how they form the team. Everyone needs to bat decently. That allows them to play bazball. Having said that Rahul dropped smith on 5. That allowed them to get away. In the 2nd test we added 356 for the last 5. Even here we added over 100 with 2 all rounders. But if we had added 100 after we reached 350 whole game would ahve been different.

Why are we bumping this thread back up?

Almost all analysts point to that moment of madness as the turning point. So they are not letting us forget.

Lose NKR and Nair

Get Sai and Jurel instead. 5 bowlers is good enough. We can’t win matches with this kind of defensive team

Jurel is most likely to play as a keeper in place of Pant who will play as a specialist batsman.  Sai will be under massive pressure. If he fails too that won't look good on him. They should have never dropped Sai at all. He was looking good in the 2nd innings against new ball.

If you just drop Nair for Jurel, who will be #3? You can't put Washington at #3 if Jaiswal or KL falls early? Better to go with Sai and have only one of NKR/Washy

Why would you want NKR and Washy both?

NKR is mostly as a back up option just in case one of the seamer breaks down or goes completely off the boil which can happen in a 5 test series. Sundar is probably playing as the main spinner. With a bowling average of 115 Jadeja didn't look like a bowler mostly. He refused to toss the ball up. Kept on darting.  He could have gotten so much out of the rough had he tossed up. Jadeja is essentially playing as a batsman.  Can't argue with that given that he has made 4 fifties in a row. Reddy in Australia looked better than specialist batsman. So not sure what hte hell happened to his batting. Even in IPL he looked a shadow of himself.  May be low in confidence. India going one-dimensional is playing into the hands of England.  They won't be out of the game even if we are 450/3. They can always roll you over for 480 like in the first test.  Psychological cushion for Indian top /middle order

This run-out was sickening.

I had not seen what KL had said about the run-out, 90% of the blame goes to him.

Was not thinking about the team, it gives an insight into why someone like him has not fulfilled his talent.

He could easily have won India this match, both in the 1st innings and the 2nd (he got a good ball so i don't think you can blame him for the 2nd innings).

I hope GG, the rest of the team have had a word with him about this.

THE ULTIMATE TRUTH

These fellows have some serious mental issues. They badly need sports psychologists. Just look at the World Cup final in your own backyard: timid and frightened. Only Pant, Bumrah, or Jaiswal look Australian in this team. The rest are sheeps. Nitish Reddy looks like a tailender with the bat—subdued and terrified.

Many of them simply lack the mental toughness required for competitive sports. No shortage of talent, but psychological issues. Just facts.
