The reason I asked was because someone I know is planning to get a laptop, and you can only get Vista now on it. You cannot get XP pre-loaded since it has been cut off. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5htzwpdi2SxPWz4ohZtpjmFeOjG5gD91K1OJ80 She wanted to know if a "downgrade" to XP was possible ( the answer is Yes - but you cannot get it pre-loaded from Dell or HP), and if it is worth the while to downgrade from a pre-installed OS. I was seeking some feedback on the latter, so she can decide for herself based on the opinions. By the way, is there any feedback on Wi-Fi connectivity quality between Vista and XP for laptops?

there is no difference. its a hardware issue, not a software one.

Users with a tech bent of mind do not like Vista. They love their resources and are possessive about them like girl friends. They would rather see their RAM sit idle than get used up by their own operating system. It pains them. They feel being cheated. So, 99% of them prefer xp to vista.
