Trichromatic Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 People blame bazball for failures of the team, but it's bowling which let's them down more often. They have 40+ avg opener, ATG Root avg 51, Brook avg 55 and rest all avg 35+. They need to fix opening and find someone to avg 37-38 in place of Crawley and another #3 in same range and they could be one of the strongest batting line up of current era. Days of solid no 3 are long gone. It's bowling which seems to be far from strong unit. Stokes is trying to build one.
vvvslaxman Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 Tongue is a good bowler in certain conditiosn due to that angle, pace and length. HE looked the most threatening against us.
MK55 Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 It’s clearly not. Their bowling is pretty good. The issue is entirely their batting. Carse Tongue are good. Constantly at 140 ish and bowl the heavy ball. Stokes is better than both of those. And Archer was clearly the second best bowler after Starc. tweaker 1

Openers struggle in tough conditions, Root goes missing against Aussies and their middle order struggles if openers doesn't give them a start. There's a reason they haven't beaten India or Aus either Home or Away. They're good against lesser quality teams but when pushed by better opponents they struggle, especially the batters.
Serpico Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 They are just one quality spinner short of a very good bowling unit. You look at the bowling figures in Adelaide, lyon is the point of the difference even though he got injured midway through. Injury issues will be there, but a bowling unit with Archer/Carse, Atkinson, Tongue and a Harmer/Maharaj tier spinner will come good in most conditions
Trichromatic Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 The day when their bowling managed to hold together, batting showed up with tricky 178 chase on such a pitch.
