“If you choose to do so”.. that’s the whole point, does a non technical ordinary user care?

They will push the AI view, provide summaries that have enough information eliminating the need to visit the link from which the information was extracted. The actual content creator loses views, revenue. Google scrapes his/her data for free & makes money.

Long term content creator will stop creating content if he doesn't benefit financially...and Google search will have outdated/misinformation and loss in revenue. Why will they do it

Because at this point tech overlords believe AI has phd level intelligence, an ordinary content creator’s content isn’t significantly better than AI content.

so cut him out of the picture keep the user on google ui more chance to serve him ads.

This is diabolical and hard to watch.

Why? He is paying them and he has every right to utilize their time skill and resource as he seems fit. It's not a charity. Issue is with employees who are so vested in that **** od a company. Work with the mindset of making money...don't allow lifestyle creep and keep the principal engineer salary ar e3 or e4 and  get a new job when you are laid off outside silicon valley maybe. That place other than career is a dump anyhow...smelly dirty overcrowded specially the south bay area and not the menlo park region.

Tech lords don't believe that...they need to balance their huge investment in data center by cutting costs and that's why people are getting fired  with ai being the convenient scapegoat

What does laying off ppl have to do with this though? This is about google prioritising AI summaries over the actual sources.

I paid for a costly drug, so I should be able to use it as I see fit? If I reverse engineered it & produce a copy. I will be hit with patent violation immediately claiming that the company spent billions & years on research.

But the same corp can reverse engineer & steal the intellectual ability of a person who took years to develop it.

billionare’s & capital’s ip protected, employee’s IP exploited.

Employment is a legal contract. It is an exchange of labour for money.

It should not involve spying them like sovereign enemies.  If it does, it is uncivilized.

I see your point but intellectual ip besides ai when developed using company resources belongs to the company even though the patent might be  in the employees name. Secondly the said employee has the right to leave their 500k to 1 million pay cheque from meta and walk away and protect their peerless intellectual ip. Ai in this case is not learning intellectual ip...that is available through official channels at any company...they are trying to learn how people work and use different tools.

Maybe I responded to the wrong comment..but this was meant to explain the comment that tech lords believe in complete ai supremacy and hence laying off people. As anyone who has used AI knows that it makes a lot of errors and hallucinates...so they know it's quite imperfect as they are very smart people but they are laying off people to finance ai infra growth with the hope that down the line ai will be perfect. Which I doubt given that llms are nothing but a probabilistic retrieval engine with 0 intelligence.

Is it spying..if it's informed.

Your keystrokes file transfer and chats or emails are all tracked in every company I have worked for. So this is not something new...the track part..not the use for ai part.
