I am so confused by this trade deal .what does India gain out of this ..absolutely *ing nothing. We drop our tarrifs, we open up our agriculture sector, we let this huge market open and in return we get a 18 percent tarrifs..mind you it's higher than before not a reduction from a bs 50 percent tarrifs and a commitment to reduce tarrifs down the years. The govt and the negotiators should hang their head in shame...never seen such a lop sided deal...

By that logic, name one country that has improved its tarriff rate with the usa?

Bangladesh's economy is small. Their export foot print is small. There is nothing really to lose to amreeka by lowering tariffs.

Also, looks like kanglus granted tariff exemption for a list of around 1500 american products.

"The controversy lies mainly in the provision granting zero-tariff access to 1,500 American products"

"By removing tariffs on products that do not compete with domestic industries and for which there is little cultural or commercial appetite, Dhaka provided the US executive branch with a political victory on market access without incurring any actual economic cost."
