I'm not being facetious when I say that there may well be a peer-reviewed paper on Dhoni's captaincy in business administration circles. At least, an article.

Complete captain only in odis. His test peformances are still mediocre. I will not eulogise this guy until he delivers big time over a sustained period of time in tests. He has had a big run in tests and still not fired! Not in same league as Sachin, Dravid, Kumble and co until he delivers in tests. The hype around him is ridiculous considering in the big league i.e tests he has been ok but no more!

Now you see? This is the reason I said he was the complete captain. After the heartbreaking loss in the Asia Cup, after all we dominated the tournament, due to a complete surprise factor in Mendis, he has made amends. What I noticed that day was MSD's body language after the match. He completely accepted the defeat and conceded it to the one factor: Mendis. He did not sulk in self-ignominy. He took it lightly and made jokey gestures (Mendis finger flicks) with the Sri Lankan camp while shaking hands with them. Attitude and self-belief can take you far.

Captaincy in limited overs and Tests are very different. Too early to say how MSD will do in Tests. We'll have to wait and see. In anycase, Sehwag may be ahead in the queue for Test captaincy.
You have to admit the toss seemed to play crucial part in this series. As evidenced in last 3 games when winning the toss and batting first was crucial. I jus find it a bit much that he is being called the complete captain! To me a complete captain for one is someone who has tremendous success in tests as skipper. That is the real test for a skipper and his abilities. He has not done this yet so not sure why everyone is eulogising him to such an extent and awards being thrown at him. Also captains are over rated anyway. As its players who wins games and not skippers. Look at Ponting who has the intelligence of a plank but is by far the most successfull captain in world cricket at the moment.
how can u praise dhoni 4 that?wen kumble played 2 spinners in blore,he was bashed left right n center 4 not playing munaf knowing fully that blore wicket assists spinners now in mohali,which helps seamers he picked a rookie spinner ahead of RP n munaf n u r praising him for that? funny n confusing also late in the day wen sachin got out, he sent ishant to protect his wicket.how selfish n stupid can u get? i'm sure if it had been any other batter,there wouldnt have been any nightwatchman,but for captain dhoni,protocol takes a toss.also there were bhajji,zak,mishra.why the f@ wud u send ishant? only thing he did well that he was lucky with the toss
