I made the distinction there. Achievement-wise, both are the same.

Yes but in India, everyone is rewarded equally. Hockey medal is more prestigious than pistol one, in my view.....but cashs prizes that are accounced don't reflect that. 

Let us just stick to India, where sporting success is rare. Your point may be valid in a country like USA where their decathlete won't be as celebrated as their swimmer or gymast, never mind basketball player.

If US men's team and women's team were to somehow win the football World Cup they won't both be rewarded the same. You're in denial if you think that will be the case regardless of any legacy of sporting success. 

Olympic medals are mostly given to those who work in govt as they join on sports quota, udar Koi bhedbhav nai dikhega govt ke taraf se. Neeraj chopra will get more commercial rewards obviously because a medal in Athletics is a big deal.
