SachDan Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 :cantstop::cantstop: funny DSR.. try looking at cricket calender and see how many out of those games he played.. i am guessing he played all... all others had breaks here and there but not him.. right from boxing test match against australia last december, he has been playing non-stop like no other.. Was not bothered to take break from even a single IPL match and some inconsequential ODI matches.

He is the captain of a IPL team and also the ODI team.. but not the test team... plus, put urself in his shoes.. if I were him.. i would want to do the same.. I would also want to win IPL tropy for Chennai.. or Kitply or Asia cup for India under my leadership.. Also, what if he JUST realised that its taking a toll on his body with this much cricket?

If you blame him then you need to blame Zaheer, and our beloved Sachin as well. Sachin was not even close to being fit to play in the IPL. He played, and aggrevated his injury, so he couldnt play these tournaments. Same with Zaheer, same with Sreesanth. Nobody was going to miss IPL, because there was BIG BIG cash on offer. You even saw what Hayden and Smith did. So the IPL excuse is BS, because nobody was gonna miss IPL. And how can Dhoni miss these ODI matches. I explained this to you earlier as well. Dsr is after all...err...Dsr! :D At a time when cricketers mask injuries and niggles just to stay on the team, MSD has voluntarily given up his place, in the larger interests of him staying fit over a longer period of time. To be honest though, this is probably the first time, in a long time, that I have actually seen a player cite fatigue/looming injury as a reason to pull out of a high-profile test series. Recently, the only times I have seen players pull out of test series' is when some Aussies pulled out citing family reasons. It will be dumb to think Dhoni decided this recently. He's probably been wanting to take a break for 3-4 months now. He would have dearly hoping for some rest after the CB series, but IPL put an end to all those hopes.

satishg Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 DSR and Dan have to take it easy..u guys are reading too much into this..its unfortunate that Dhoni had to skip the test series but he has been complaining for quite some time and this is a forced decision..he is the ODI captain and i dont think a captain wud ask for rest..he wud be wanting to lead the side no matter wat unless he is injured..calling him a coward and other stupid stuff is unwarranted for..

SL Test series comes, and "IPL takes a toll"? Even we in ICF called that IPL could cause these injuries - didnt players like MSD, ZK et.al. understand that?
