[url=http://blog.iphone-dev.org/]3g (2.x) cannot be soft-unlocked' date=' it can only be jailbreaked.[/url'] iphone first gen can be both unlocked and jailbreaked. people selling iphone 3g unlocked on ebay are from italy/belgium/some European country (where it's legal to buy an unlocked phone by paying extra)
..sigh, I thought it was possible but soon

When I was in India recently' date=' somebody said it costed 30,000 Rs. That is close to $650 or so.[/quote']
8gb 31000 Rs 16Gb 36000 Rs
Thanks fellas. Honestly, at the price, you can buy a laptop instead of an i-phone. :D

Airtel is offering iphone. Go buy from them with a contract or wait out a bit' date=' prices will drop. It is best to cover the damn this on warranty. Better yet wait for Google 3G phone, costs 1/3rd of iphone with identical features. Damn Apple and it's products. I am sick of them playing the "Hi, I am Mac" ads. What a load of rubbish![/quote'] 1/3 rd of the iPhone? It's going to retail for $175 with a contract and from the reviews it appears to be a load of crap compared to the iPhone.

My comments don't come from experience, but generally from hatred towards Mac users and Apple product users. I think iphone/ipod is hyped and I wish it gets good enough competition to be off the market.

Its not apple's fault is it? Have you even used the iphone to call it hyped? LOL, this is a case of sour grapes.

try this instead: the 300 bucks that you will drop for an iPhone... use it to say buy 300 dinners for some of the million impoverished kids who live in your good country.

will do that too, why do I have to sacrifice a gadget if it comes to necessity then we just need 2 time meal,a hut and a towel!! Just doesn't make sense to make statments such as 'dont get this' - ' donate there instead'

i am not suggesting the life of a sage... i am merely pointing towards peter singer's philosophical approach which is while tedious to follow, but is rather pragmatic. he does not decry any purchase outside of bare necessities, he simply advocates the acquisition of items that have a considerable utilitarian benefit. for instance, buy a car... but buy a camry if you have a family or a civic if you are single... instead of a bmw or beyond. thus save on fuel, reduce your expenditure and the resultant environmental benefits... and in the case above, instead of an iphone, that is well simply a gadget purchased not for its utilitarian benefit but for its impact as a prized acquisition intended to seek attention and inspire envy in others... buy a cell phone that has all the functions of the iphone, and some more, at half the cost!

Jeez, why does every explanation has to be so philosophical..peter singer? what does that have to do with a thread on some gadget.. whatever dude!
