Can Pant keep upto the stumps is the question?  Rizwan failed badly even against 120kph of Abbas.

Akashdeep is mid 135k at least on a bad day.

 

Blundell will surely try it against us like he did vs England with Henry and Foalkes the all rounder

Our struggles are usually in 4th inns when pitch stops assisting pacers much and it requires hitting the deck hard.

 

Headingley 2025 Birmingham 2022 Newlands 2021 Joburg 2020 are prime examples.

We usually miss a pacer who can whack the pitch hard.  Prasidh failed in Centurion boxing day test in 2023.. and they selected him for Hit the deck bowling 

Last nz series we struggle to all out nz quickly nz still alien condition to our players hope this time we do well

Should have won the Christchurch test as I said.  India were cruising in that game.. a Massive first inns lead was there for the taking but Jamieson with the bat hurt us and we got a slender lead.

 

We collapsed in third inns and NZ had no scoreboard pressure and pitch had eased out in final inns as well.  

 

In 2014 we again missed a pacer who can bowl quickly and should have won both tests.  Poor captaincy by Dhoni to blame.  It was a winnable series.  Highlights are still painful.

Kohli dropping Mccullum is still fresh... And after that triple century.  That game was mentally scarring as a young fan.

He is not the kind of bowler who can be useful in sc or sc like conditions, that has to taken in consideration if he is in the plans.

 

He will be required to plug directly into playing 11 where ball is swinging ex- eng/nz/sa. He can not be permanent member of the side and if he is slected he should play in 11 there is no pint of having him on bench and not playing than better develop other bowlers

Let us see how he does the whole season. I have no problem with players trying things to get into side.  Arshdeep, Sai sudarshan,Axar, Sundar all had  a dip. Not everyone was equally successful.

Siraj is a rhythm bowler. When in rhythm he can run through a line up.  It is nothing to do with pace. Ball just zip[s all over when in rhythm. Occasionally he can bowl high pace delivery. He is generally a 135kph bowler give or take 2 or 3. Same with Akash deep. Not express pace. But know how to set up batsmen. The thing is you need 4 bowlers each blessed with different skills. GOing in with samet ype of bowlers is where teams suffer.

He is not trying but BCCI has sent him there and requested Surrey to give him a chance as they were looking for an overseas pacer.

 

They could have easily sent someone else.  Imagine Deepesh going there.. how huge it must have been for the kid.  Aquib cannot improve beyond this level.  He is pushing 30 already.  Pace is dropping by the month.

Absolute waste.

Siraj was extremely pathetic in BGT in Australia.   If not for his Oval Test heroics they might have dumped him for good.

It seems selectors clearly have an issue with his moody nature and inconsistent performances... And that's why they don't include him in ODIs anymore.

Not wasteful, he is there for 3 games, lets see what he does. And if he is not good than it would be clear that he is not good rather than finding in intnl crkt.

 

Deepsh would need to play FC to get into county Div-1. 

 

But yes they should use this to send and promote newer players, 30 yo players have nothing to gain out of it. Kuldeep is there too.

 

nd this is the issue with ranji even after so many seasons Ind can not directly pick a player with confidence, ppl should stop hyping ranji performances.

Its good that players perform in ranji but selection should be mindful of the standards and what if needed for intnl.
