putrevus Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 They both have big stars and great individuals talents , but as a team they never show fight in big spots.Yankees have AROD and Indian Team has Sachin both are immortal players but have never won the big one , World series in case of Arod and World Cup for Sachin. This Indian team with all its talent in batting has always let the team down , getting 76 against SA, and failing in South Africa, Karachi, and latest flop is last test,They all average near 50.If you compare position by position between Indian team and any other team, especially in batting this India team is second to none. They always fizzle under pressure, like Yankees have done in last eight years not winning the big one despite having highest payroll . Look at how south Africa saved the test match in lords by batting for two full days, has this Indian team ever showed that resilience, maybe it is time to break up this fab four and infuse some youth in team .
chamatkar Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 lol.. the number of times I've thought the same.. good on paper ... they thrash the bosox and then prompt lose two to the lowly orioles.
fineleg Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Can we get a non "superstar" ladden team? Ever? Example: AK is not a "super star" but a very good player. Can we get a team like that? with hard working people like AK who are not mega stars off the field. Probably not. Indian media will keep creating superstars, they did it for MSD and Yuvraj. Sooner or later, if Rohit Sharma does well, they will create another superstar. Primarily Indian media's fault (and fans too) for our team having lot of Super Star Prima Donnas.

SachDan Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 It has to be England national team if we compare them from a soccer point of view....m sure many posters might disagree as england has won nothing of consequence for a long time.
gs Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 The biggest concern would be the bench strength though. There is no one remotely capable of filling in the boots of the stalwarts in the middle order. Dravid is clearly struggling, but cannot be replaced due to the lack of a quality replacement. An ageing star is better than an utter misfit.
Dravid Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 we r like the yanks?? dude yanks can buy/trade basically whoever they want from any team ... can we get players from aus/sa??:D they do have 26 titles...
kumble_rocks Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 With due respect , this thread is a joke , New Yankees have won 26 titles and along with Dallas Cowboys are the two most successful sports franchise in history... Yes , they are not winning now , but they have over- achieved in the 90's ! And lets not even compare Mr April A-Rod with Sachin , Sachin has been the man of the series in WC2003. A-rod has sucked in all playoff series throughout his career.
Ram Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Baseball ? :hahaha: :hysterical::hysterical: Boss and Baseball is an eternal hate-hate relationship!

The Mets would make a better comparison. Very rich franchise, lots of good players but not much to show for it. The Mets have also won the World Series twice, the same way India have won a World Cup and a World Championship. They also reached the World Series as recently as '00 (Subway series), close enough to India's '03 World Cup appearance. In short, the Mets rule
fineleg Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Boss Bhai seems to have distinct dislike for baseball :D

cowboysfan Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 the yankees also have aging stars whom they rely on too much(posada etc)and those guys always get injured during the season-just like our current test team-the transition is not going to be pretty when our aging stars retire.
