Very true, Sandtest. And we have all seen the ramifications of losing a top class WK to fatigue when he should be playing Tests. Some of us have been crying ourselves hoarse over this, but who gives a damn? I betcha Sharma will be made to play in the ODIs and ground to dust by the powers-that-be.

Pretty much. It's a case of plenty for the BCCI. Why should they give a crap about the fitness, nutrition and development of guys like Patel, Sreesanth, Pathan, when they have other options like Zaheer, Ishant, RP to use? That much was pretty clear when the forced the team to use the NCA exclusively even though no bowling coach was apointed at the time and the "pace wing" wasn't ready.

Amidst all the adulation for Sharma, hardly anyone has remembered how well Zak bowled. I thought he bowled with a lot of pace, venom and swing. His wicket of Sangakkara was the most important wicket of the match and he could have easily had Vandort caught at slip had he not over-stepped the mark. We have two VERY fine opening bowlers. One right-handed, tall, pacy and run-in and hit-the-deck kind of bowler. The other one left-handed, experienced, capable of swing and guile. That is now THREE important test matches that Ishant has helped us win with his bowling; Against Aus in Perth, 3rd test against the Saffies and now this. What a bowler!

I don't think Zaheer has bowled that well in the series and he has looked toothless on a number of occasions. I would loved to be proved wrong, although the third Test track can't do that, but I really do doubt his ability to succeed with the ball in typical subcontinental conditions.

For all the usual stick our selectors get for getting things wrong, all of us have to admit that some of their decisions in the last 24 months have been outstanding, starting from dropping the seniors from ODIs, to now implementing a rotation policy for faster bowlers. They have shown a lot of courage, foresight and common sense. The only black spot was the bad mis-handling of the Dravid captaincy issue and summarily dropping Sehwag from the national squad in 2007.

They have shown a lot of courage, foresight and common sense. The only black spot was the bad mis-handling of the Dravid captaincy issue and summarily dropping Sehwag from the national squad in 2007.

AWTA (agree with the above). Regarding Sehwag, the ODI drop was probably due but the Test drop was uncalled for.

Sehwag deserved to be dropped, he was completely out of touch, giving him that break and bringing him back has made him a better player
