I would really like someone to find the answer to this burning question - Can anyone remember when was the last time P. Sachin made 100 in the 4th innings of a test match ?? Also, we need to get Idle Time Sachin on ICF ASAP !
Lets make it clear. Whats P sachin? Why must you disrespect? If you cant stop name calling, I am out of this filth. I have already told you twice decently that disrespect is not necessary for making a point. If you dont want to understand, I am out of this discussion. Good night.

How about you find someone who has averaged more than 50 in tests after playing 20 years

no wonder ponting and kallis are considered greater batsmen by everyone except indian fans' date=' a good example is world cup 2003 final, pontings hundred and sachins low score[/quote'] allright i want to take this thread back sachin is a great, the way people r belittling him on this thread is screwedd up

So why dont you leave that to the great man to decide. Lara' date=' Waugh and Warne didnt play international cricket at 16. Sachin did. So if he thinks he can play for a few more years, we should just trust him....especially given that [b']he is performing.
Ok, granted that this series is just a blip. Very few Indian past greats have voluntarily retired gracefully. In fact cant remember any except S.Gavaskar. So this logic of "let him decide when its time" doesnt bode too well for Indian cricket. Srinath was kept out of the team to accomodate Kapil Dev. Srinath then had fearsome pace and was a far better player than Kapil on his last legs. SCG still wants to make a ODI comeback, VVS wants to play in a WC and so on.. where will all this take Indian cricket?!?

Just the nature of the job! Its a professional sport - people adore you when you perform and bring you down when you dont. Like any other profession' date=' be it an engineer/lawyer/doctor, you have the job as long as you perform. Not a single meaningful knock in 5 completed innings?!? Can you imagine a techie missing 5 consecutive delivery deadlines, and still having the job?!? You are held accountable for your failures and past achievements dont matter at that point. Why different yardsticks for different people?!? Not just singling out SRT here, but to the entire former fab 3.[/quote'] A techie would generally not have 5 deadlines within a month or two:--D Anyways, I belive Sachin will hang his shoes whenever he feels that he can no longer deliver things for India. He is that type of a person.. Also, I believe that Sachin has huge contribution in the fanatic level of cricket craze that has developed in India in past 20 years or so.:hatsoff:

that is problem you cannot drop all four at time and suffer from growing pains , but you need phase them out gradually it should start from taking out some one from Fab four whom do you suggest, if you look at avg wise all of them had their moments but they are not consistent enough, Sachin should play only in one form let him decide what is best for him and allow gradual phasing out of four one thing is for sure their best days are behind them they might have odd good series or two but nobody saw this coming all four failing horribly at the same time without even showing some sense of control on what is happening out there either M&M are that good or these guys are done, it is upto BCCI to decide.

OK...I guess the answer is that no-one can remember when was the last time' date=' if ever, Sachin has made a 4th inns 100.[/quote'] '99 vs pakistan 136 he made happy

Not a good idea for the player, but is it any good to Indian cricket? Retirement or not, I am only asking for accountability and merit based selection. If the famed middle order still has any hunger, they should fight their way back into the team. Not playing 20-20 was a great move and a step in the right direction. Hopefully there will be more such moves since BCCI is incapable of doing anything except hoarding cash.

Pjili.....that was almost 10 years ago !! No wonder he is struggling to pass 35 on this tour. BTW, for all the Sachin fanatics here.........he will also not pass 35 in this 2nd inns. This series is done.......and you can lay 50% blame at Sachin's door.

Yah..as if others were giving their best (barring few who really were) and it was only Sachin screwing up ??

Agree on the first and last points :--D I hope the second one is true.

I dont think so when all said and done ponting will hold all records of Sachin in test matches' date=' the difference is ponting raising his level in last six years has overshadowed what Sachin had acheived, If I am starting a team and I have both sachin and ponting I will take ponting first. That is my opinion .[/quote'] Sorry mate, anyone who includes Ponting over Sachin, is a class-A idiot. Yes, Ponting may break Sachin's numbers- so what, numbers arnt end-all, be-all. Border broke Viv's numbers in most categories ( runs, average, tons, etc) but its foolish to think Border was distinctly better than Viv- hell, its more plausable the other way round. As per Ponting catching Sachin, it is a definite possibility, atleast, in tests. Ponting is younger, has been a better bat for a long time and he is closing the statistical gap fast. Plus Aussies play more tests than India. Don't forget though, that when all is said and done, 2000 runs and 5-6 centuries is still a significant gap in tests. All these guys are getting old and it doesnt take long for the magic to disappear- look how it seems very unlikely now that Dravid will go past 11K runs whereas 1 year ago, his fitness & consistency made it very plausable he'd go on to 12K or more. Same can happen with Ponting. Not to mention, if Tendulkar really has the balls to challenge himself, he'd end up being one of the best again. What i mean by the above statement is that Tendulkar needs to bite the bullet and CHOSE between his ODI and Test career. IMO, he is driven to hang on till 2011 world cup, give it one last shot but his body is a wreck. He knows intensity of 5 day cricket plus insane amount of ODIs will definitely get his body busted in no time and it would be for good this time. IMO, he should retire from ODI cricket right now and if(it is a BIG IF) he can continue batting well in Tests, come back in a year and half's time. IMO, if Tendulkar still has the fitness and coordination to do well in Tests, 13-14 months would be more than enough for the greatest ODI bat of our times to make his ODI pitch again. But IMO, Tendulkar will not do this, because i don't think he is confident of making a competetive comeback to ODI cricket if he takes a break. But IMO, the best thing Tendu can do now is to pull a Lara and take a hiatus from ODI cricket.

1 person out of 11 is responsible for 50% ok last time i checked cricket was a team sport is Sachin supposed to do everything while the rest of the players hang around doing **** all and btw you still havent answered my question

I have realized that this guy The_Black_Prince is an intentional trouble maker. Debating with him is no use as he simply does not listen. Best way, ignore him.
