Whose quote and what? Fineys post was just quoted with correction as highlighted above.
When you are quoting someone (ie, putting it between quotes and attributing it to that person), you are tacitly implying that the words are verbatim from the said poster. If you wish to modify his comments, please take them out of quotations, because people browsing through can easily confuse your quoted text as verbatim from the said poster- and you know its wrong to do that.
Go in the thread read the link which proves the point of Commie ouster which has boosted Indo-US tie-- which was the main point and proved. Period.
No, you emphatically said that the MILITARY EXERCISE was organized after the commies left government..then you changed it to 'it was ramped up and MMS made sure we sent a strong contingent coz the commies were out'. I corrected you on that and the main point was you were boolsheeting about the whole exercise.

Been almost 6 years since i left india when i was in 9th grade. I believe the culture is truly amazing. And people are friendly and loveable. Relationships in a whole family is soo close knit and just full of happiness. Money might lack for majority of indians but what makes us special is how hard we work / how ethical we are. Great history and i LOVE reading indian history and how many different people tried to invade us because of what we used to have before british and others stripped us off. After coming to america, i learned there are no family valuess, no ethics, no culture. Food is just damn good. Finally, I AM DAMN PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN!!

Things I am proud of 1. history and arts 2. Optimism of the people 3. Food 4. That we continue to be a single country amidst all the chaos. Things I wish will improve soon, 1. Babudom and bureaucracy 2. Becoming a truly secular country 3. Caste, culture, language, religion based parties gone 4. Improvement in personal and social ethics. 5. More individual freedom.

:hysterical::hysterical:Sorry Mouni, But we are not hard working people. If we were, then our country would not be in the same state it is today. If you ask me, Americans, even without culture, work harder than most indians.

Promise of a genuine free market economy which does not forget its moral obligation to the impoverished. And yeah, a rising rationalist and humanist movement: exhibited by the debunking of the nut job tantrik on television and a resounding success of the teach for india program.

And USA has its share of quite a few lazy bums as well. I feel it is not the hardwork that is lacking in India or Indians, it is the system in India is not conducive for certain progress. But hopefully all that is changing/will change.

the way the moughals which were muslims tried to convert indians from hinduis and sikhism to islam. We fought and denied that to happen and kept our religion ans around 800,000,000 are hindus in india atm while 20 of the religion in india are islam. So the sheer fighteness of the indians and the fact that indians are very warm people who always are polite and dont envy people and do so much. Manmohan singh, perfect example.

I don't need a reason. I am just proud to be an Indian. It is an emotion that is impossible to rationalize. I am also grateful to my adopted country, the USA, although the emotional attachment to the US is still lacking.

proud this or that has turned into cliche, every freaking body throws.... I know a bangaldeshi who would wear I am proud of bangaldesh on his sleeve until one fine day I asked him what is it that feels you with pride and he was inciherent at best in reply.......
