SachDan Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Instead of selecting Kohli, selectors could have easily included Dhawan who can open the batting if situation demanded as its happening this time around. On any given day and under any conditions, one can easily predict Dhawan surviving one ball more than Virat Kohli.
fineleg Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Cmon, danra, after all Kohli is the captain of the winning T20 team. Immensely qualifies him for the entry into the national squad for ODIs and Tests. :hysterical: Our captain courageous dhoni has decided who should be in. Pls. dont bring names of mere mortals who slog it out like donkeys in domestics, A-tours etc to get into the national team.
Desi Cartman Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 he should have played Badri instead of Kohli ... and it was wrong to select VK over Dhawan IMO

SachDan Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 how did Rohit sharma get in ? didn't he perform in CB series after being selected on basis of T-20 performances ? sarcasm? :giggle:
punjabi_khota Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 sarcasm? :giggle: What I am saying is that Sharma was picked up on basis of T-20 world cup performances, and he did play well in 50 overs CB series.
chanakya Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 What I am saying is that Sharma was picked up on basis of T-20 world cup performances' date= and he did play well in 50 overs CB series. That was against full grown professionals. Kohli on the other hand is just a kid. His inexperience showed in the IPL. Badri, Dhawan are way more deserving than Kohli.
vadodaravictor Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Kohli should be out of the team...He was not impressive during IPL and today again he showed that his entry into international cricket is little pre-mature
punjabi_khota Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Kohli should be out of the team...He was not impressive during IPL and today again he showed that his entry into international cricket is little pre-mature Yeah, and everyone else showed they are all awesome international batsmen. Right!!
vadodaravictor Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Yeah' date=' and everyone else showed they are all awesome international batsmen. Right!![/quote'] Khote yaar..everybody else has more FC and international experience..while Kohli dude has not shown any promise ..he should play some more FC cricket..he has played only 11 till date
fineleg Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Send V.Kohli for a couple of years to prove himself in Domestics, A-tours etc. Let him gain experience first.
sandtest Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Bhai log, if like this we keep sending players after failure of grand sum of two match then we won't be left with any player and Cricket will become an individual game....Olympic is in sight now:hysterical:
Guest Hiten. Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Oh yeah, Shikhar Dhawan would have scored 200 in this very match and would have helped India 'boost' their total run tally in this match to 347, no ? Sure, Virat's selection was a eye raiser but for heaven's sake stop the 'if XYZ was there, it would have been so different'. Deal with the current lot and give them an entire series to assess. Some of you guys have an egoistic problem of admitting that Mendis is simply unplayable because he is just TOO DAMN GOOD.

Though what will happen if his confidence gets shattered?
sandtest Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 question 1? did he deserve the place over either Badri or Dhawan? however since he is in there now he must be given chances. Though what will happen if his confidence gets shattered? It's not the matter of Badri or Dhawan....everyone is aware that Badri and Dhawan both deserve chance ahead of Kohli kid. big question is how much patience, modern day "chanakya"ish fans are having between their pair of "fineleg" and even selectors. What if Badri and Dhawan too fail big time against M&M in this series, I am sure so called fans will start diverting their frustration towards trashing these two player in that case. Not to mention if selectors get an "impression" then it may spoil their rest of chance in future. Be patient, since now Kohli is already there in the tour, let's hope Sehwag makes a comeback and Gambhir fires in next match. I have only hope of tackling SL spinners from these two.
bharat297 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I agree that Dhawan should have been there instead of Kohli. To those that felt Dhoni didnt have a say in this ... are you kidding me? He has had a say in every single team selection up to this point. I am not blaming Dhoni, he backed his instinct and got it wrong this time ... but he has got it right in the past (with Sharma and Praveen in the CB series)

He is still a kid and he might get a mental block from which he wont recover if he does badly on the international stage.
