satishg Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 LOL The first bad run for a guy (who is only 21 btw) who was in sublime form up until around April ... sudenly he is a joke of a player. I suppose Ishant is a joke of a bowler too. I mean, he didnt get many wickets in the test series, or the Asia cup ... lets drop him, he's a joke. Raina struggled a bit recently ... lets drop him, he's a joke. Tiwary struggled in the 1 game he was given ... he's a joke and should never be picked. LOL ... Yea "lets groom youngsters" my foot ... We're gonna call them jokes at the first sign of trouble ... LOL. bharat DadaRocks is a friend frm our neighboring country..i mean our arch rivals Pakistan..so thats y he is picking on some of our players or gloating wen Rohit is in bad form..so no use talking to him :D

fineleg Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 danra, Badrikku oru O' podu! Well, hope that he can be a good Test player. Thats more important, and Badri needs to focus on getting into Test squad.

yoda Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I request everyone to use English language while discussing a topic. Using a language which only a handful of forummers know is not the way to discuss anything! Didn't see you jumping all over those who were typing in Hindi. Hmmm...may be it's cause you could understand it. Just chill, it is not as if people are using tamil to discuss things extensively. A few sentences here and there shouldn't get you twisted.
Ram Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 :haha: This 'North vs South' is one endless love story! Has anyone noticed that its mostly South Indian posters who have been raving about Badri? And most of northie guys have been unsually silent... :winky:
bharat297 Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 ^I think Im an exception to that rule ... Im as south as you get (Kerala) ... and although I think Badri played well and deserved his chance a while ago, I'll reserve my judgement as to whether I think he will be a long-term prospect or not after a few more games.

And most of northie guys have been unsually silent... :winky: Nope, I'm a North Indian and I want Badrinath in the team...i mean he averages 56 in FC Cricket and 40 in List A, he was kept away for too long, and we had people like Rohit Sharma instead.

It needs to be applied and posters reminded no matter what non-english language these posts are though. Then it is fair and square. Anyways, you can always PM if there needs to be 1-1 chatter.

kumble_rocks Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I did not see Badri play in the last match , but from what I saw in IPL , this guy has re-tooled his game and is able to accelerate at a brisk pace depending upon the situation . Dsr you may want to consider this , remember Venugopal Rao who used to be Chappell favorite and now he has started playing some blinders in IPL . I never expected him to reinvent himself for the shorter version of the game after his dismal showing in ODI. We always thought that he was a test material. I think Badri has bright future in both test and ODI simply because he has shown in the intent when playing IPL. Although I have a feeling that he does not have the whole hearted backing of Dhoni... just an hunch from the way his batting position was shafted by Dhoni during the IPL.
Fontaine Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 When I saw Badrinath play against the Sri Lankans and especially the spinners what impressed me was that he didn't seem over whelmed or awed by their hype. His footwork was very quick and aggressive to Mendis/Murali, he was picking Murali's doosra, and at times playing Mendis off the pitch, and when playing back or unorthodox shots his bat speed was very good allowing him to get on top of the ball. Some of the shots he played deliberately to go flying over cover point also showed that he's got a lot of confidence in his abilities. In other words he looks like a gamer and should definitely get a run in the rest of the ODIs. Nice fielding and running between the wickets as well. It's good to see that even with a reasonabely well set young ODI team we can have guys like Badri and Kohli (who also played well) to challenge the youngsters like Raina/Rohit so they don't get complacent.
