For north VS South Im from delhi and I am supporting Badri .. I dont like the idea of playing Kholi
Ofcourse it is not kholi's mistake that he got selected. Having been selected now he is getting some chances. But BCCI need to ensure that our yengsters go through the grind of First Class cricket also.

Nope. Does the name 'Dinesh Karthik' and a thread 'Karthik is just what we need behind the stumps' ring any bell inside of you? :D

his first match, and he has already proved to be a match winner remaining unbeaten, scoring the winnings runs, cracking mendis , he is a sure slot in the odi and test line-up

dsr, Next time onwards back someone with true dedication :D (Badri is ok). Never ever back useless ponies like Dinesh Karthik. He used to be a poor batsman, good keeper. Nowadays, poor batsman, poor keeper.

nope he used to be a gud batsman and a gud keeper..but then somewhere along the middle the team management got confused as to wat his role is in the team..they asked him to open, they asked him to field and then he himself got lost..he needs a gud 2 to 3 years in the domestic level..and im sure he will come back..he is a gud talent..i am pretty sure u remember his 93 against pakistan at eden gardens in 2005..where he and dravid ensured India won the match..

satish, I disagree. Yes, he had that 93. Yes I saw that match. However, watching him bat, I was never convinced he had the technique to bat against the better fast bowlers or even quality spinners. Maybe I am harsh to denounce him as a poor batsman - but I saw a distinct lack of tight technique while he batted. His good quality was he was a gritty, and busy batsman. But fell short on technique by a long way.

technique is the most overrated concept in cricket..does a certain Virender Sehwag strike a bell in ur head..ofcourse KKD is not as talented as Viru but he is no mug with the bat either..Sidebottom exposed him in the first innings of the lords test match but then on u know wat happened..he was one of the leading run scorers for India in that series..So Karthik does have it in him to succeed in the international level and mark my words he will come back for sure..and regarding ur accusation of he being poor against fast bowling..remember the last test in SA in 2006 where he opened and got a gritty 50 and then in the second innings wen all our stalwarts struggled he came in and scored a brisk 40* to ensure India had a lead of 211 or something..so he is gud but rite now he is lost

Thats not true ... technique is important, but you can work around it if you have other things. Ganguly and Sehwag have overcome technically downfalls by being impeccable timers of the ball. Players like Symonds and Dhoni have overcome it by mental determination and physical stength. If you lack technique, you must bring something else to the table. Karthik is gritty , I'll give him that, and he is a very hard worker (I have seen the Indian team at various training sessions, and KKD works very hard on his batting) , but his shot selection and decision making leave a lot to be desired. However, if he keeps working like this, he will no doubt improve.

question is how much patience if that means anything, BCCI will show with Badri. With serious lack of players having decent techniques in present so called young brigade, players like Badri need more chance than ever.
