punjabi_khota Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Err' date=' Jaya Bachchan, formerly Jaya Bhaduri, is a mach-bhaat-jhol Bengali.[/quote'] Quite right, and that is the ****ing irony of it all. I cannot help but sense some mischief in her actions. Not that I am condoning thackrey.
Willow_on_fire Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 i dont appreciate this anti rodent movement. rats deserve better. :cantstop:
Lurker Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 On the other hand, how can one expect the common man to stand up to these goons when the rich & the powerful are afraid to do so. The common man will not stand up to the likes of Thackeray, instead he will make Robin Hoods out of people who do. Speaking of Mumbai specifically one should be prudent to realize that many a Godfathers have basically made their stature as savior of a certain segment of society. Indeed Thackeray, Jr and Sr, are responsible for many of these. There is the case of Vardhabhai who became patron of Tamils after they came under heavy attack from Thackeray's party. There is Dawood who came out as savior of Muslims circa 1992 riots. Considering many North Indians are already in Underworld world thanks to Azamgarh area influence dont be surprised to hear one of the new Bhai coming from this part of the country.

Lurker Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 my ex-manager in Vancouver was his disciple - albeit he is a parsi That kinda reminded me of Karim Lala(he passed away a few years back). Apparently Karim Lala, once he started moving up the crime ladder, moved to this locality in South Mumbai. At the time South Mumbai had a lot of Parsi population and most of his neighbours were not at all happy considering his reputation. However within a day or two of his moving the entire area was made peaceful and law abiding and all the local goons had taken a hike. The man was a big hit and he stayed in the same place for almost 40-50 years till he passed away. You should probably bug your ex-manager, if you are still in touch, about Vardabhai. Maybe he can tell you some interesting stories. xx
beetle Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Raj Thakrey is a scum bag wannabe leader whose only claim to fame is targetting celebrities and movies. The Bachchans have also brought this upon themselves because of their associations with seedy politicians. Jaya Bachan specially acts in a very immature manner in public. Not just in this incidence where shewasextremely provocative and looked pretty stupid. But her conduct as a Rajya Sabha member was also marked by immatureactions where she chose to bring up personal issues rather than national issues. She seems to be far too immature to be allowed to be given any responsibilty. It also seems to be very conveniently started close to two bachchan releases. Controversies are often created to give free publicity to the movies and it often works. This was also started a week before the movie was to be realeased. There was some hulla gulla ,tod phod and now when the movie will be realeased on friday...everything has been settled between the warring parties. Far too convenient!
f.b.m Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Looks like the great AB has been publicly humiliated ! I hope this kind of anti - outsider sentiments does not spread to Bangalore as well. Well, there are no "insiders" to start with.

This should have been a totally non-issue - since when did talking in Hindi become offensive to the natives of Maharastra - FFS the whole hindi film industry is located in Mumbai!!! This is almost like following the path of the Dravidian brothers in Tamil Nadu :giggle:

If anything, she probably had a dumb moment, considering how much flak her family is already taking. And they are not totally clean, considering those fraudlent land deals etc, farmer status etc.

She went out of her way to create an issue where non existed. It was definetely a political game she was playin .That's fine ...but don't act all innocent after you start it. Not only this, she even tried to rope in poor Priyanka Chopra into her juvenile act. That girl is ten times more mature than this woman who has also done a stint in the Rajya Sabha. Raj Thakerey was just doing what he knows...being a gunda idiot! But that doesn't take away from the fact that Jaya Bachchan is a moron who tried to create some well timed publicity for the up comming films of hermenfolk.
CC1981 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 FFS AB is from UP and his son would be considered one as well regardless of what his mom's pedigree is in Indian tradition/customs. First, the issue i thought was with Jaya Bachchan, not Abhishek- so AB's son is irrelevant to the issue. second, its time for you to chuck those sexist traditions/customs into the dustbin- the west long since has - there is no reason why a son's pedigree should be known based on the father only...that is not only archaic and sexist, its barbaric- and its quite OT to this thread as well.
DomainK Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 The most unfortunate thing is that Raj is doing all these because it sells for him. Its his USP to sell himself to the public and a considerably large part his potential voters buy it. That exactly is the reason why the Maharashtra government and the law enforcement has been unable to stop him or punish him for creating such trouble. MNS and Shiv Sena can run riots and damage public and private property and there is no one to stop him because a large part of the society accepts them.

MNS and Shiv Sena can run riots and damage public and private property and there is no one to stop him because a large part of the society accepts them. There is nothing new about this. Raj Thackeray has learnt from his Uncle and mentor Bal Thackeray who has essentially built his political career out of this. The rather unfortunate part of course is both Uncle and cousin end up getting political recognition from leading parties. Bal Thackeray was used by Congress against Socialist Party and now BJP is in bed with Shiv Sena. The part that I am completely at a loss to understand is how come the ordinary Mumbaikar doesnt have a clue as to how these goons have totally destroyed Mumbai? Not too long ago Mumbai was one of the greatest cities of Asia and could easily compete with say a Hong Kong or a Singapore. Today it is unable to face the competition within India let alone outside. I dare say if Bollywood moves away from Bombay, and possibly Stock Exchange, Mumbai has little to offer to Indian coffers. xxx
gs Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 "Hum UP vaaley hain" was the dialogue uttered by BENGALI lady. Where does son come in there ? If anything' date=' she probably had a dumb moment, considering how much flak her family is already taking. And they are not totally clean, considering those fraudlent land deals etc, farmer status etc.[/quote'] I agree that this statement is far from innocent and is tongue in cheek of sorts. But from what I understand, she told this to Abhishek Bacchan in media presence, which to me sounds like "HUM" refers to the Bacchan parivar (which has 3 UPites + 1 Bengali mom + 1 Bunt bahu) - this would make the entire family UPites since all the males belong there. Strictly speaking by Indian customs/traditions, JB lost her Bengali pedigree the moment she married the UP Bacchan. Also, I am not vouching for the honesty/integrity of the Bacchan family here - so land deals controversy isnt the point here. Just amazed at how a statement was blown out of proportion creating a political controversy and bringing Maharastra to standstill :omg:

You are dumb to assume that they are my traditions and I have lived in the west long enough to derive my own conclusions about what is right and what isnt. But things in India are what they are. So like it or not, this is how it works and I was only trying to put it in an Indian context.

Like I mentioned this statement is far from innocent and is a swipe at the Thackerays.
