major: use to be pre med/pre dent (because of my parents), i was really really miserable, didnt like it a bit , eventually changed my major to business(acctn), may parents seemed pretty shocked(yeah they are the typical desi type that wants their kids to be either doctors or eng),but now they are fine, they now know that its useless to push something on someone when they dont like it .i lost atleast a year of my studies bc of change of major !

I quite dont understand the point of threads like these. What next? What cars all of us own? What mobile phones we have? How big our houses are? Besides, the importance of education in people's lives is waaaay overrated anyways.

Easy. Its the chit-chat section. Supposed to be light hearted chatter. Not every thread in every section has to have a serious point to discuss. I would even like to see a total mindless thread in a section like this.

I guess you're right. Maybe I just read too much into too little. I apologize to the thread starter. Speaking of majors and minors, my univ didnt offer international graduate students the option of having a minor. Even though my major was EE, I ended up taking courses in a variety of fields, starting from Digital Design, Space engg, Optics, Electromagnetics, Space instrumentation, MIS, to Robotics and Networking. And just for fun, I took a couple of business courses during summer. By the time it became clear to me on what I wanted to specialize on, I graduated. :haha:
