Bump Forget 300, he won't even take 150 wickets if he continues to bowl like this! He was presented with a great opportunity..replaced our 'premier' spinner and had the best wicket of the series to bowl on and how disappointing he turned out to be :(

He has been awful today. No balls galore, just bowls flighty slow leggies which quality batters play with ease. He was tragic today on a pitch offering help. Oijha was very good and bowled some beauties, while mishra offered nothing

Well, i agree with all of you that he didn't have a good day at the office, but i will still say he didn't get enough opportunities.Ojha didn't look good in the first couple of tests as well, but those were good batting tracks, agreed, still it takes a day or two to get back in rythm.I hope he bounces back tomorrow with some better stuff :nice:

His fitness is aweful, release is haywire and if you compare his action to how he was bowling vs Aussies, there is a huge difference. He bowled badly in Zimbabwe and doesn;t seemed to have put much effort since then to improve his fitness or get his rhythm back. Hopefully will bowl better tomorrow.

Everytime there is a change in the spin department, I hope Murali Karthik makes the cut. Mishra did a decent job today. He was expensive, but it would be wise to wait until the test gets over as he can't be dropped from a match mid-way and he will only improve as the sessions pass by.

See - this is the problem. Our team management tends to select teams so that they can ensure that their team does not lose. That will work when the toss comes our way and we bat the others into oblivion. Hardly a dependable strategy. Hardly a strategy at all. Take what happened today - good assistance for the seamers off the wicket, but we had only 2 of them. There is not even anybody who can roll their arm over and bowl medium pace. What is the result? You press your spinners into action very very early. Like what happened today. How can we blame them for not being very effective on a first day wicket on what is generally a good place for batsmen?! This however does not preclude Mishra or Ojha from criticism though. That is entirely a different matter from this. Today too we needed another seamer.

Agree. No break throughs by seamers and then ball is chucked to spinners on day 1 and all blame is give to them. Disagree in that Oijha bowled quite well, thought he was very good today. Mishra was pants

This was a shocking performance by Mishra. He looks unrecognizable from the bowler who debuted against the Australians 2 years ago. Maybe this path of regression is not limited to our faster bowlers. Oh well, one can just hope for a turnaround in fortunes to have some hope in the test. If Sri Lanka cross 400-425 it's game over for India.

we cant judge these young spinners by one-off performances.the musical chairs means no ones place is certain.one bad performance will get out,that can hardly be comforting for a spinner Look at Mishra,he bowled okay against SA but was dropped for the first test because he failed in ONE warmup game.how can there be any confidence? we saw Ojha improve over the last three matches.today he was very impressive,had his best day of the series.what we need is pick a spinner among both n give them a fair run of 10 tests atleast,then u'll see how good they are

I think Lord's argument that Mishra's confidence is low, holds ground. Having said that, a cricketer is a professional and he must deliver as and when the opportunities come by.

Those bowlers were a spinners grave yard, especially 2nd test. Look at Oijah in this test, he looks different bowler. But he is not a different bowler just a has got a more sporting track

It will take the Gods eons to find a post, just on ICF, more moronic and irrational than this one. Harbhajan Singh needs to reborn several times over before he can match 1/2 the grit that Kumble showed in tough circumstances. Here's a spin bowler who can't take a guy hitting him for a six and instantly starts bowling darts on leg stump - and you're comparing him with Kumble - bravo. Your intelligence couldn't possibly go lower - or could it?
