what a joke team this BD is.. their batting is mediocre... when is the last time they have batted better than mediocre...? in this current test, they have batted for 37 overs for a mere 153 and in the follow on innings thye already lost 1the 1st wkt for 15 runs.. I personally feel they shud b stripped off the test status.. they shudnt be allowed to play with the 8 teams.. simply cuz they r nowhere close to the level of the rest of the test playing nations.. they wud b better off playing associate members... what do u guys think??

Sucks for Bangladesh' date=' they can't afford to pay the players properly, so they lose a lot of good players to ICL and they carry on being crap and get criticism[/quote'] u sound like they were better before...dude this s been the same shyte performance ever since they started playing test cricket

Where is the option for "they should play Ranji plate league"....oh wait, they are not yet India...but what about an option " they shouldnt play cricket at all" :-)

BD is seriously at the level of a second grade fc team of India, should have never been given test status....not that many top Indian batters are complaining, always useful to get a 100 against BD when going gets tough :-)

bangladesh should play in the next intercontinental cup. and also should zimbabwe. although bangladesh should not lose test status. just have it put on hold for next 1-2 years until they show some improvement the 8 teams for next intercontinental cup should be - bangladesh, zimbabwe, ireland, kenya, namibia, scotland, canada, holland

They look O.K every now and then, but are horrendous otherwise. They competed well in the recent series against NZ, they're not totally hopeless. They should probably stay. Its not like they're turning people away from the game of cricket. Their only chance of improving is to keep playing international cricket.

Though I quite agree that this BD team isn't a pleasant sight, taking away their test status is not the right step. We must pay due consideration that this is the first day of a test match in SA, a place where most average teams stutter. That said, these guys haven't set the place alight with their performances at home as well. Some of the posters call for BD & Zim to be clubbed back with the associates. The dis-advantages of such a scenario are: 1) Reduction of the numbers of test playing nations - we already are just a handful of cricket playing countries! 2) If BD/Zim move to the Intercontinental cup, a few other associate countries will be stripped of a chance to participate. The IC cup is great motivation for budding cricketers in associate member countries. Just like in India or Pakistan, BD folk are mad about Cricket. Back in the 90s, we went to watch a Karnataka XI Vs BD game in B'lore. Much to our surprise, there were a bunch of 500 or so hysterical Bangladeshi students egging on their team. Though their team didn't do well, the enthusiasm of their fans was notable. Back to the topic - We must still be patient with BD while they turn into a decent test team. They have come up with the occasional good performance - the best being the match against the Aussies during Easter '06. That augurs well for their future.

No! They are going backwards. They would benefit from playing A teams and associate teams. getting steam rolled is making them go backwards and effecting their development. For the sake of their development they should not play tests anymore
i am shocked. not by our performance, but rather by the fact that a man of your experience and knowledge would forget the struggles of indian cricket when they first started out at test level (which was far less professional than it is today, i might add). 19 years without winning a test. hopefully we'll win one before then. look how india and NZ struggled when they came here. and look at you now. cricket is a game which relies little on athleticism and physique. anyone can succeed given time and luck. you didn't produce world beating players for decades, its irrational to expect us to do it in 8 years. put another way, 14 years ago, BD failed to qualify for the world cup. teams like kenya and UAE made it ahead of us. i'd say we improved quite a bit.
