Earth NO?
Rajeev is correct. Agni = Earth Akaash = Sky Prithvi = Earth These were the initial series of missile. Another one in the series was Naag(as in Black Cobra Snake), one of the versions that I have heard/read is because as per folklores the balance of earth was supported by the King of Snake, and so Naag referred to the undeground, or pataal as we call it. So earth/sky/earth and the bottom of earth. Not anti-Muslim at all.

If you complain about their history, spare a thought for their future books hailing Osama and Al Zawahiri ? Some day, that dreaded Math exam is going to be the norm in Pakistan, if not already.

In our historay book we can't even have courage to call Aurangjeb ( even hitler doesn't hold canlde to thsi guy) what he was.. So we have gone opposite way. Recently Fancois Gautier's organization FACT had a painting show on Aurangjeb , tamilnadu govt shut it down within a day such is the low self-esteem of our people. You can't say on public Tv that Aurangjeb in his court killed Gurur teg bahadur.. I am supposed to celebrate this kind of lefitst pinko vetitng of history books and organize a kirtan for Nehrujii for this effort..
Arey, India is a democratic country..we have people form diff religion. and N.C.E.RT, the creators of the national history text books in India, don't want the small students to be too cruel towards a certain religion(Islam) may be hence..

To state the obvious - Prithvi is a surface to surface missile. Akash is a surface to air missile. Hence the names. Pakistanis thought that the Prithvi referred to Chauhan and named theirs Ghauri. DRDO and Indian Army once had a project called Samyukta. Samyukta means "together" or "combined" but the interesting thing is that it was also the name of Prithviraj Chauhan's wife. Wikipedia also talks about a submarine launched missile called Sagarika.

We have **** in india too... I studied under the CBSE syllabus till the 12th grade and i can tell you this, the entire 10th grade was an absolute farce with regards to knowledge accumulated in the fields of physics, chemistry and biology. After the 9th grade, were most people learn the introductory kinematics, newton's laws... the tenth grade was focused on crap like 'nuclear reactors', 'future energy prospects', and other general bull that one can learn from mere casual reading. not just this, the biology syllabus was utter crap too. when i wanted to learn more details about human anatomy, i had to read stuff like the green revolution... so yeah, before pointing fingers abroad, maybe we should look at ourselves first... we are squandering an opportunity to gain a serious advantage with respect to collegiate syllabus. had i learn basics of modern physics, probability and statistics, i could have jumped right into the syllabus of most juniors and seniors. regrettably i had spend two whole semesters revising calculus.

IF you prepared at the level of JEE during high school, you were probably MILES ahead of the freshmen at any US university, MIT/Caltech included.
