350 plus wickets and you want to chuck him out , thank god selectors have more sense. Plus he is all rounder now!:yay:
Every Indian fan keeps harping about us bein the No 1 test side; yes all of us want Indian team to get better with every passing game but why are we so quick to dismiss the very players who made us No 1 after couple of poor games. Only in India do we want a pujara or badri to replace Dravid; ashwin for bhaji and god knows who for gambhir. Bhaji is the best we have; so complain about us not producing better spinners and not dropping bhaji

This track was so FLAT as well. Ridiculously so. All bowlers from both sides did jack. How you can judge him on this track is bizzare' date=' silly and opportunistic![/quote'] so you want to say every track he has played alll round the year has been FLAT becoz his performances suggests that

Purely looking at bowling as a spinner - is Bhajji really the best spinner we have? We have Murali Kartik also, just that selectors wont look at other spinners
what could murali kartik have done on this wicket ? yes kartik can be termed unlucky in the sense he didnt to many oppertunities however you know your cricket do you honestly believe kartik is better than bhaji ? would you drop dravid and bring in pujara for SA series ?

dear pea brained cricket follower murali kartik is a left arm orthodox bowler. That means he is like Pragyan Ojha. Turns the ball from right to left. Bhajji is a right arm offspinner. He turns the ball from left to right. By dropping Bhajji and picking Kartik do you want two spinners who turn the ball the same direction and the same way? or are you just here posting because you need attention and crave for drama.

^ Dear maggot and ***got Online, You've got to play your best bowlers - you dont pick a left arm seamer just coz your other one is a right arm seamer. (Unless the left arm seamer is your better bowler among the squad). Same here. You pick your best spinners. Picking a "right arm offspinner" who cannot get wickets or a left arm spinner who can get wickets? Hope you understand now Maggot-and-***got Online.

Surely, we’re not at this again, are we? I remember, after the Lanka tests, when Bhajji did not perform so well, there was a huge uproar as how he has to be dropped from the team, oblivious to the fact it was his bowling that helped us win the 2nd test and draw the previous test series against South Africa. Now that he has not performed so well in the first test against New Zealand, the cacophony of noises is back, once again, mindless of the fact that he was the 2nd highest wicket taker in the just concluded Australia series, taking only a solitary wicket less than the table leading Zaheer Khan and easily out performing the other spinners in this series. I now know exactly what is going to happen now. He’s going to take a 5 wicket either in the 2nd or the 3rd test and help us win the series and the beraters will go back into their tents, only to emerge after the first test in South Africa. This is probably the most predictable pattern in the whole world. :hysterical: For once, people should stop being such book-worms and assess player performances from cricinfo stats sheets alone, but start understanding the dynamic of a team sport. There's something unique and invaluable everyone brings to a team and it cannot all be captured in the scorecard. Has Bhajji’s performance, especially at home, been as good as it could have been? Of course not. But the man is probably amongst the top 4-5 valuable members of the team, who drives it with his passion and aggression. That kind of mentality rubs on the others and helps them raise their bar as well. You cannot capture that in any score-sheet, but if you talk to players, they’ll tell you about the utility he brings to the team. The funny thing is, there seems to an uncontrollable urge among a few here either pick someone into the team, or dropping someone from the team, no matter what the results turn out to be. And Rahul Dravid (batting), Bhajji (bowling) and MSD (keeping) are the most favored targets. Guess we have all the 3 departments covered there. :cantstop:

Good post MM. Lets see if Harbhajan gets a 5fer in next 2 tests and help India win. Otherwise, sometign would need to be done.

Marirs :cheer: We need to remember that Bhajji is not a great bowler of the same class as Kumble, but he is not crap either. We set wrong expectations and then we abuse when he falls short. Yesterday was the first day of a test and anyone who expected him to take a lot of wickets was dreaming. He is the best we have and he does the job quite often.
