Passengers who?? Hayden Siddle Lee Kretza Hey moron, it was your batting, you should have batted SA out of the game.
The buck should stop from the top. Ponting has been mediocre right from his batting, captaincy & team management. Right now, Ponting is feeling the heat and does not have any faith in his team. This is affecting his batting. The right way to focus would be to be positive and support the team to come back. If he keeps belittling his team mates, the days of Ponting captaincy will be shorter.

That is spot on. By not assuming the responsibility for the defeat, he has already lost respect amongst the team as a leader and by hinting at "passengers" in the team, he is sowing insecurity and discord amongst the ranks. Not a good thing to do...

Having White for 3 tests in India as the main spinner was a masterpiece of his infinite wisdom. Now he goes for Siddle and Kreza over proven match winners. He doesn't have a complete team. Bung Lee is old now, he has to retire. I guess he wll never be a great bowler. Since the series against India last summer, they have been beaten regularly by stellar performances, I guess their aura is fading, altho helped by Pontings gaffes.

Whinging continues.... You need to learn from ozzies about how to make excuses Late finish a concern Malcolm Conn | December 22, 2008 Article from: The Australian AUSTRALIA coach Tim Nielsen has raised concerns about the late finish on Saturday which kept the first Test against South Africa going well into the evening. A mixture of rain delays and slow over rates saw play extended until the extraordinary time of 8pm, an hour and a half after the scheduled 6.30pm finish. "It concerns me when we are playing three-hour sessions. It's a long time to be out on the ground," Nielsen said on Saturday night as South Africa's batsmen resisted stoutly. "It would be the same if somebody lost two wickets in the last quarter of an hour as well. You'd question whether it's quite fair. This time it was the bowlers who probably lost concentration and started to fatigue and got whacked around a little bit." Australia's inexperienced duo of fast bowler Peter Siddle and off-spinner Jason Krejza leaked 27 runs during the last three overs of Saturday's play. Both were playing just their second Test. Nielsen questioned whether the game was poorer for extending it so far into the evening. "I understand that we've got a responsibility to put as much cricket as we can into the day and make up the time we need to, but at the same time not at the cost of the level or the contest," Nielsen said. "So it's something we've got to be aware of. It's even to a stage where we play some games under lights, some games aren't played under lights (because of bad light). "It's a tough one that we need to work out and probably get some consistency with." The crux of the problem is television and the time difference in Perth. With daylight saving in WA, play does not start until 11.30am, allowing Channel Nine to show as much cricket as possible in Sydney and Melbourne. The tea break falls at 4.10pm in Perth (6.10pm in Sydney and Melbourne). By showing the news from 6pm to 6.30pm in Australia's two major cities, only 10 minutes of cricket is lost before the network goes back to the start of the last session in prime time.
