Mr. Wicket Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Fabulous innings here. Came in with England dominating in the field, India crawling at a painful pace and took charge. Here and in Chennai he's showed far more focus and concentration than I've seen from him in tests before. Great to see some steel and thought to go with the strokeplay we know he's capable of.
DomainK Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 And he has played spinners well. I am sure he did spend time on that in the nets. No doubt he has improved.
graphic23 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 And it kinda leads me to support some of the ideas yesterday that called for him being at #3. I think ti would've worked as well.
Guest Hiten. Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 And he has played spinners well. I am sure he did spend time on that in the nets. No doubt he has improved. Yuvraj never struggled to spin trundlers (sorry don't know how to define them). Yuvraj always had upper hand on the likes of Swann/Panesar-esque bowlers. UV struggles against quality spin bowling. But Salil is right, this innings was much needed not only for him but more importantly the team was in desperate need. Carry on UV:two_thumbs_up:
DomainK Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I remember Boycott shouting at some Indian commentators that YS does not belong to international cricket. Of course that was when YS was playing very bad always throwing away his wicket after a quick 15/20 in ODIs. Boycs had predicted that YS would disappear within a year.
HouMac Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 WOW...did you just see the 6 he hit? Like a galli shot. Incredible. I hope this is IT for Yuvraj. I truly hope he's figured it out. There isn't a more fun batsman to watch in cricket today.
satishg Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 feels so happy to see Yuvraj in full flow..a in form Yuvraj makes a helluva lot difference to our test team..hope he cements his place and becomes a truly good test batsman which is wat is expected of him
fineleg Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Great hitting by Yuvi. Gambhir played Normal-GG when Viru was there. He played Normal-GG when YS is there. But when RD+SRT+VVS played like the old {fab-4-clueless-in-2nd-inn} then GG also lost it yesterday. SRT is in great form, RD is in decent touch after 1st Inn, Laxy had a good Aus series. But all showed glimpses of fab-4-terrorized-in2nd-Inn!!! for some reason yesterday. Why this old scared of 2nd Inn from the Fab-3?

fineleg Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Domaink, not saying they're always clueless, but you know the type of clueless 2nd Inn (like after Viru got out in Blore against Pak when we were batting well), thats the fab-3 we saw yesterday. SRT, RD, VVS were all suddenly treating pitch as minefield, and Eng as Marshall, Roberts, Garner, Holding. They need not score at 5 RR, but 3 RR should be reasonable?

Guest dada_rocks Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 he is no longer make-shift player filling the absence of someone or other .. I guess this fact helps alot in keeping mind uncluttered.. here is hoping a new chapter in yuvraj's batting career
