Lord Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 i duuno why everone is going OTT n gung ho about this film.this is a hollywood film.its director,producer r english n movie is being made in english too.it released earlier in USA than india meaning its a hollywood film.it has few indian actors, thats it its story is set up in india bcoz they wanted to show rags to riches story.what better place than slums of india to show poverty:angry_smile: amitabh bachhan was absolutely right.dunno why he was slaughtered in that thread. only man to be proud of is AR Rehman. even if he wins the oscar,it would not be coz its his best music,its coz he worked in hollywood film.he had made far,far better music than this.such a pity it took a forun film for him to be recognised.

No way it is a Hollywood movie. What do you mean it has few Indian actors. Almost all the actors barring the lead are Indians. The co-director is also Indian. Even the music director is also Indian. Taking all this into consideration all in all its definitely not a Hollywood movie. It is just a British movie.:finger:

P.S It beat E.T as well in that year More importantly an Indian won the oscar for best costume designer.(for the Gandhi movie)

Kinda shows doesnt it that Indians will go crazy over anything western, its just an award function. and the movie isnt even realistic when it claims to be, the kids talk in Hindi when theyre young and suddenly they somehow learn English when they get older while living in the slums. Go watch Frost/Nixon, now thats an awesome film.

I fail to see what was so interesting about that film that it made it to No 1 on IMDBs Top 250 for a bit. Its a decent entertainer, nothing special.
