Desi Cartman Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 NEW DELHI: India will be vulnerable to more terrorist attacks along the lines of Mumbai, terrorism analyst Brian Jenkins from RAND and Ashley Tellis have told the US Senate’s committee on homeland security. “India will continue to face a serious jihadi terrorist threat from Pakistan-based terrorist groups. However, India lacks military options that have strategic-level effects without a significant risk of a military response by Pakistan. Neither Indian nor US policy is likely to be able to reduce that threat significantly in the short to medium term,†they said. Tellis said, “LeT represents a threat to regional and global security second only to al-Qaida. Although LeT is linked in popular perceptions mainly to the terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir, the operations and ideology of this group transcend the violence directed at India.†He cautioned that US should work with India to deal with terrorism from Pakistan, otherwise India would be tempted to take steps that could endanger regional security. “To the chagrin of its citizens, India has also turned out to be a terribly soft state neither able to prevent many of the terrorist acts that have confronted it over the years nor capable of retaliating effectively against either its terrorist adversaries or their state sponsors in Pakistan,†the two experts said. Jenkins added that the poor quality of India’s response to the terror attacks, intelligence failure and inadequate counter-terrorist training and equipment added to India’s misery. So whats the solution according to these "Analysts" :hmmmm2:
h4te Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 1. The UN should revoke Pak's nuclear status. 2. Declare Pak as a terrorist state. then, we can do something about it. you can't go to war with a nuclear power.
punjabi_khota Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Sab ke sab chewtiyon ki tarah haath pe haath rakh ke baithe hue hain. 2 months have passed, Pak has laughed at us about our claims, hindi-paki bhai bhai is still on on TV and the status quo is maintained. B@#&*#od kuch to karo saalon, kuch farak to nazar aaye.
EnterTheVoid Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 um, excuse me dumbo's, but this is the case everywhere. Every terrorist attack is an intelligence failure and so for uncle sam to blast India over it's shoddy intelligencia is a bit rich considering that the CIA / FBI were involved in the biggest intelligence failure of the millennium Pakistan can't do jack s****. They're too busy fighting America's war to care about the security of their country. Day by day, Pakistan is shredding itself to pieces. All we're left to do is seal / secure the borders and enjoy the tamasha. The terrorist organizations like LET / Pakistani government fight for whoever they think is with them, when it's crystal f ******* clear everybody is using them. America is Pak's ally? What kind of ally bombs you? Threatens economic sanctions on you? Aus and UK are Pak's allies? Yea, right. I don't see them lining at the airport to go to PAK any time soon
cochise Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Don't worry about stupid analysts and what they say...they are so dumb they only just, or perhaps still haven't figured out that Pak has been playing the west for fools for years....Pak fighting war on terror? That would be like fighting itself. They are the primary sponsor of terrorists. It is part of their doctrine to use terrorist to achieve strategic aims...like in Kashmir. The US is aware of Pak's perfidious role in terrorism worldwide...it would dearly like to wipe out the state apparatus in Pak for terror...but it *****foots around with Pak and will not even come out in the open to declare Pak's true culpability in terrorism worldwide...let alone attack them...as it is they are losing the war in Afghanistan because Pak is providing sanctuary for the taliban...still it won't take military action against them....does this make the US a soft state? How come the worlds greatest superpower is pandering to this pariah state's needs? How come it has no real policy options to tackle it? Ask the analysts these questions then come and talk about India having no real options. So, now to the question. Why is India not taking military action against Pak? Simple. It will escalate very quickly...even surgical strikes will lead to a full blown war in short time...in a conventional war, India will not take long in overwhelming the Pakis...and then what is left...the Paks will use their nukes if they feel that they are close to being defeated...even though the retaliation will be a hundred times more severe on them. Now say, we manage to neutralise most of their nukes before they can use them...even if one gets through it will be a catastrophe of epic proportions. Thus, can we take the military option on Pakistan lightly? No, it's not a simple matter. The Indian goverment is undertaking a responsible and graduated approach to Pak while at the same time, making preparations for any eventuality. It is best to turn the heat up on Pak through international diplomacy first. Pak is a problem for the whole world and the world is aware of it. And Sree has a point. It's best to contain Pak and watch it disintegrate rather than getting embroiled in a war with them. The attack may very well have been a dying effort by the Pak army to drag India down into the same mess that Pak is in...they wanted to provoke a war for their irrational aims based on hatred. They are playing a very dirty game and India is doing well not to play into their hands by reacting irrationally to their provocation.

Arey bhai... that is all OK. but my main question is, how much diplomacy can we afford. Pak will keep attacking us through these mofos and keep lying about it with a straight face... where does all this end. Yes we have been slightly successful in showing the real face of Pak to the world, and yes, the world is pressuring Pak... But how many mroe Mumbai 11/26 can we take, before we (India or the ROW or combined) do something concrete about it.
fineleg Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Traditional war is ruled out, becos of the nuke issues. I hope India can "work it out" with US/UN countries to pressure Pak and end the cra.p that they do.

I think unseen screws are being tightened on Pak to take real action and if they don't or the government is not able to, covert and perhaps even overt action will be taken. A graduated response seems to be the play. Slow but a steady increase of heat on Pak. At the same time, India is preparing and gearing up for any eventuality.
