coffee_rules Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Do they work? Is any one a good buy? Any experiences? I have a Garmin GPS with a MP3 player. The only way to connect it's audio to the car stereo is through an FM transmitter. I heard they are not that good.

vadodaravictor Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I have tried several in past and all are cr@p. There is lot of disturbance. That may be because I travel in city. I have witnessed less or no disturbance while going on road trips on freeways/high ways.
The Outsider Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I have one for my iPod.....it works pretty well generally after some fiddling around with the frequency depending on where you are. If you have some usual routes that you take, then you should be fine after getting to know which frequency works best for which route. Sound quality isn't obviously top quality but you can get half decent outputs.

I have one from Griffin : http://store.apple.com/us/product/TQ043LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA2MQ&mco=MjE1NzM0MA Though while browsing the site I noticed that they have now come out with auto scan transmitters as well, so those might be worth checking out as well. Bottom line is that if you don't have any other option to connect your iPod in the car, then it's better than having nothing. There is a cassette stuck in my car's cassette player for years now, so the cassette attachment is not an option for me though I've heard the quality is better in those.
