Shane Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 didnt he some at 5 or 6 in the semis against mumbai? Yes he did, he can always get promoted, for now i guess no.7 is the one for him and he is in direct competition with YKP !!!

amits Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 his bowling will improve in future matches. seemed to have butterflies in his stomach today. even dropped an easy catch & bowled some easy balls as well, but that will improve after 2-3 more odis

Shane Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 rox, this is not instant coffee, that u might get immediate success, we need to have patience with this players, give these players a decent run and then decide. U cant judge a player on a single performance !!!
graphic23 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I'm not one for too much in stats.Balaji was also supposed to be great coz he took all those wickets in ranjis. we saw him today Balaji was great because he would bowl nearly 50 overs per match sometimes without breaking his back and would consistently get wickets. It was his first match after nearly 3 years on the international circuit. He kept it tight for the most part but unfortunately would bowled a loosener towards the end of the over. But he can come good. Same with Jadeja. If not stats for domestics, what do you want to use as criteria for selection? How well they dress up or something? Balaji, Jadeja, Irfan all had excellent seasons. Irfan is not doing well but Balaji or Jadeja weren't as bad as you are making it seem.

U cant judge a player on a single performance !!! i'm not writing him off at all.all i'm saying is that u cant pick someone on stats alone.if he is really a talented bowler, good luck to him.i havent seen him bowl,so was skeptical. i was impressed by his batting as i said earlier.
msb1991 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Sorry about this but these comments about not taking Ranji Trophy seriously because a player fails in an ODI is ridiculous. Ranji Trophy is First Class cricket which lasts four days, ODI is 50 over cricket - they are completely different games. Success in one means very little for success in the other.

U didnt pay any attention to the stats i posted, those are the stats of the Highest wicket taker in this Ranji season, that should say something, eh ? And his batting he is at no.5 in the overall run scorers list !!! So that makes him a top notch all rounder, one of the best in the country at the moment !!!

Not better than Ojha, but not far behnd !!!

Irfan is not doing well but Balaji or Jadeja weren't as bad as you are making it seem. why is not irfan doing well then?he was our 2nd best bowler today. wat i meant with balaji is exactly wat u mentioned,he would bowl a loosener every over.he can get away with it in ranjis, not in ODIs.bowling 50 overs doesnt say anything about ODI bowler, hes gotta bowl only 10. i'm not saying stats should nt be used for selection,i'm saying they shouldnt be lone criteria.there is a certain X- factor that u can pick up only while watching players.
