Do you rate Jadeja as a batsman?

Not everyone in a T20 team needs to be a big hitter. India has Rohit/Raina/Sehwag/Yuvraj/Yusuf to do that job. Yusuf's role couldnt have been easier 34 in 4 balls with 6 wickets in hands. Just close the eyes and swing hard. 2 sixes will have become 22. He didn't click. That makes Jadeja's innings look bad. He is only 20. He shows lot of spunk.

I agree bhai.. but in T20 you need batsmen who can hit sixes and fours at will .. I dont think Jadeja is that kind of guy.. he is a very good player but maybe not good for the t20 format

Why i am saying is.. even big hitters can draw a blank in death overs. Same pathan brothers rocked in Srilanka not long ago. Today they made 7 in 14 balls. That is serious under performance. Even if they had scored at the rate of Jaeja 14 in 14 balls they would have been within an inch of win.

I disagree vvs..that innings was very painful to watch. His range seems to be limited..i've got no problems with him pacing his innings but the guy simply doesn't have the big strokes. I'm not saying he should neve be given a go etc..but it might better if he is made to wait for some time before representing India.Even if we are lookiong for grafters guys like Badri,Vijay are way more deserving.

What matters is he tried and though he may not have lived upto your expectations, he has time on his side. To me he looks comparable to the suresh raina of 2 years ago. And as someone above said the rest of the team knows about his ability (or inability to tonk it). Inspite of that what was the point of Yusuf Trying to play vettori respectfully . Even if he had managed to connect one six and gotten out we would have been in with a chance. It was lost in that over. MSD can switch himself back to hitting at the death he used to do so well knowing jadeja can anchor it for him at run - a ball. There was no point him coming at no 3 either.

You cannot expect a batsman to be an anchor and also a hitter. Very few like Yuvraj/Dhoni have accomplished that over a period. Jadeja is too young and raw to perform such kind of roles with finesse.

I agree with both the mentioned points... Jadeja is a good batsmen and he should be given chances but T20 does not seem to his format .. I have hardly seen him hitting big .. if I have to about shot selection then maybe the new guy in IPL had a better range of shots than him Regarding Yusuf I agree that he did not do any good by showing respect to Vettori.. I think YKP should get into form by hitting sixes and that is the best way he plays .. he always struggles trying to take singles or twos ... if YKP had hit even a six or two today and got out then India would have probably won the match

That is why I am saying that let him be tried in ODIs or small matches instead or t20s ... anyways I dont think he will be in the final XI during the actual tournament.. there are already 7 batsmen and nobody else can be placed in that lineup I wont be surprised if Dhoni opts for 6 batsmen and 5 bowlers and then Jadeja wont make into final 6 anyways

Totally unfair to blame Jadeja for the loss. Lets take a look at Yusuf and what he has done for India, don't make excuses such as he usually comes in when he has to slog; that is the reason why he has been picked in the team. How often has he delivered? Jadeja played well, he could hit at the end, because the bowlers bowled well

Jadega is fantastic and it's his first time experience in UK (Lords in particular). It's possible he needs to get acclimatized to the conditions. I reckon he will be a match winner for India during this T20. You have to persist with someone like him.

I mostly worry about the ilkes of Yusuf pathan who at times is a nervous wreck. 34 in 4 you could not possibly goof up that one. It reminded me of CSK who failed to score 34 in 4 overs with 6 wickets in hand like today.

I was very impressed by what I saw of Jadeja in the IPL, he came and played some brilliant cameos at some difficult times. His bowling is very handy too and he is an excellent fielder. He appears to be a more consistent performer then Yusuf and I'd go for Jadeja as the specialist allrounder.

his drawback is his boundary hitting capability we fell short by 9 runs yesterday he spent a lot of time at the wicket, he should have hit a couple of boundaries atleast in the death overs

have some people here heard about evolution? lot of uninformed insights here. remember the ganguly of 1996.he was strangled by symcox on his legs. was he the same one who thrashed pollock and co around in SA five years later? raina is also striking the ball beautifully these days. just remember his timing when he made his debut in SL in 2005? or his struggles abroad that led to his dropping. was yuvraj striking the ball as spectacularly in 2002 as he did years later in 2007? in the earlier years, there are only glimpses of brilliance.it takes time, experience and a lot of polishing to the game to achieve the same exceptional timing and the ability to play enduring knocks. jadeja of today is not what you would be seeing in three years time.keep that in mind

jadeja did not hit the ball when it mattered for india yesterday so IMO hes not the kinda player who can be given responsibility of doing the hitting work.may be some more experience will expose him

His strike rate was not bad in IPL. But he is still too raw . He will learn to play such shots over a period. Yusuf and Irfan hardly showed their ability to hit. They wasted 2.2 overs and made only 7 runs together.
