philcric Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I think i got it this time they all have been selected as Wisden cricketer of the year... Well,, there'd be hundreds of cricketers who have been selected as wisden cricketers of the year ? I'm sure there has to be something more unique to that team ...
Donny Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 I'll put a second one in so you can have a choice. Call the first one #1 and this one, #2 - when replying. What do the players in this team have in common ? Matt Hayden Andrew Strauss Ramnaresh Sarwan Mohammad Yousuf JP Duminy Marcus North Jacob Oram Denesh Ramdin Daniel Vettori Fidel Edwards James Anderson 12th. man. Andrew Symonds
The Outsider Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I thought of 2 things : 1. They held the record for the most appearances for their country at some point, but a more careful perusal negates that. 2. They held the record for most consecutive appearances at some point, but that doesn't seem to hold either. My guess is it's some record against Pakistan since there are no Pakistanis in the list, but not sure what it would be. One question - is it for separate batting/bowling records or they genuinely have something in common?
The Outsider Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Oh and I also think it's a crap team selection to have Gurusinha ahead of Dravid since both of them qualify.
dial_100 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I think I have the answer... but it looked so obvious..
Lord Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I think I have the answer... but it looked so obvious.. wat is it.PM me
Donny Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Oh and I also think it's a crap team selection to have Gurusinha ahead of Dravid since both of them qualify. Sunny and Anil K are in there for India. What's the problem ? Mate, if you weren't so obsessed with putting me down, you might just have seen what a big clue Guru is. I did put Anil in ahead of Murali and Warne - both of whom also qualify. You adjudicated on both your guesses, correctly.
dial_100 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Do you want to check Malcolm Marshal once... I am not sure if he fits there.... or you are just trying to adjust him there???
Donny Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Malcolm Marshall qualifies. You're on the wrong track, amigo.
nikred Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 #1 - all have been captains of their respective teams.:D
Donny Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 My guess is it's some record against Pakistan since there are no Pakistanis in the list' date=' but not sure what it would be.[/quote'] Bradman only played against England, India, the Windies and Sth. Africa.
Donny Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 #1 - all have been captains of their respective teams.:D I don't recall Greenidge or Marshall captaining the Windies or de Silva or Guru captaining SL. Davo never captained Australia or Donald, RSA.
nikred Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I don't recall Greenidge or Marshall captaining the Windies or de Silva or Guru captaining SL. Davo never captained Australia or Donald, RSA. i know i was just hoping they did without my knowledge:P
suraj Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I don't recall Greenidge or Marshall captaining the Windies or de Silva or Guru captaining SL. Davo never captained Australia or Donald, RSA. #1 Is it something to do with them taking wkts in test matches?? I know I am fishing for anything here
nikred Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 #1 - they all started their careers as medium pacers.
suraj Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 #1 - they all started their careers as medium pacers. I was thinking along similar lines too
manoj_admlab Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 #1 They held the record for the most runs or wickets for their country at some point in test matches.
