Rajan
Afghan cricket team reaches Peshawar for training PESHAWAR: The cricket team of Afghanistan has reached Peshawar on Thursday for a week-long training. Afghan team will practice at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in connection with the preparation for the qualifying round of the World Cup. Afghanistan cricket coach and former Pakistan Test bowler Kabir Khan told Geo News that that the Afghan team earlier had to go through training at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore but the Pakistan Cricket Board asked the team to remain in Peshawar. The Afghanistan team, with their own country in turmoil since the ousting of the Taliban by a US-led invasion in 2001, is happy to train in Peshawar, but is taking precautions.(:haha::hysterical::haha:) Afghanistan are warming up for next month's International Cricket Council qualifying tournament in South Africa, where four teams can qualify for the 2011 World Cup. Besides practicing, the Afghan team will also play a friendly match at the Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar. The fact Afghanistan are still in training, with World Cup hopes alive, surprises Khan, because they've advanced from the lowest rung of qualifying. So far, they've moved through the division 5 event in Jersey, Division 4 in Tanzania and Division 3 in Argentina. Afghanistan have been bracketed with Denmark, Bermuda, Kenya, the Netherlands and United Arab Emirates in Group B for the South Africa tournament. Group A comprises Ireland, Scotland, Oman, Uganda, Canada and Namibia. The Afghanistan squad will wrap up its training camp March 17 and return to Kabul before flying to South Africa on March 20.A warm-up match against Oman will precede the qualifying tournament. ======================= they can as well play against Pak since the home team is free and they can claim that a Foreighn team is visiting with out any complaints, so ICC shud conduct Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Simaon Taufel is ready to officiate, probably Steve Bucknor too. why wait? start the Mother of all battles, Now!:haha: Link to comment

Pak_Forever
What are you guys bitter about? Afghanistan playing cricket or getting training in Peshawar for qualifying tournament? or is it that you guys can't really digest anything related to cricket going on in Pakistan? Afghan as a country is currently struggling and their people need something to cheer about. No harm in being a well-wisher for something good, as hatred won't solve jack. Afghan cricket team has done wonders from the bottom of div.5 Associates and now within two years are a tournament away to grab a WorldCup spot. Insha'Allah they will make it. And knowing how India and Pakistan crashed out of WC2007, don't be surprised if they manage to win against any of the two teams.....I so hope it's India. :--D All the best Afghanistan Cricket! :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment

Every Tom, Dick & Bari was proclaiming terrorist's love for cricket & cricketers and how no team will ever be attacked in pakistan, how Pak is safer than India after 26/11, how unjust indian team's tour cancellation and how SRT and Dhoni are very verrrry wrong to cast alleged doubts about security threat in Pak!!! after Lahore, where ur security were vying for Oscar awards in acting, and Ijaz Butt's categorical 'clean chit' to security arrangement, even your 'brother Taliban terrorists from Afghan' are taking precautions:haha: we simply find it very amusing ! not BITTER:hysterical: Why shud v feel bitter? in fact I feel BETTER:--D Link to comment
