I refuse to believe this is some kind of pride in tiranag that drives these fools crazy, where they resort to stone-pelting cricketer's house burning their effigies. I mean we come empty handed every olympics never see any athletes running for cover let along their look alike. Our national sports team fails to wualify even for asia cup finals forget about world cup but they need not fear for their life unlike our cricketers. Then comes that money alibi. U know the kind they make so much money so they must not fail. Now how this money came into picture. We losers who are mostly mediocres in whatever profession we chose started spending spending ungodly amount of time watching these folks play and over-night monetary fortunes of cricketers changed. Mind you these folks never came knokcing at hour door to become fanatic instead of fan we chose to be one on our own volition. our crickters were happy playing for the cuntry even before we loser briagde got crazy . heck they brought world cup. Even this new crop is not doing poorly, very fact that we have been out of the first round for the first time since 79 is testmony to the fact. Forget all this since we fantics spend so much time and are costantly searching for some icarious sucess through thes guys n our otherwise failed to mediocre life so they must not fail. We are not gioing to buy the alibii of fickle nature of ODI where once in a blue moon some minnow might defeat a favourtie team. Whatever they do but win they must. If not then we willl burn their houses. Just remember one thing due to us fanatices in 2003 finals when one of our batsmen went to the crease he was greeted with words to the effect of "They will start with (burning of course what were u thinking some white-wash job) ur house this time".. I am sure that warm throught of burning wud have made him feel like a billion dollar. If in these circumstances they play under pressure who is to blame them or us. Moreover, it's not like they don't feel bad. When an adult male cries it has to be for some very very sound reason and before u start giving lecutre on how someone should expres his hurt feeling , lay off; it's their life and they get to choose how to express themselves over failure or success.

That said, the team is as crap as it can get and there is no second thought about it. This isn't just the WC debacle but the writing has been on the wall for a while now. The effect of bad performance will surely show on the player's earnings sooner or later. The public can't be complaining about the money the players make.

Most Indian fans have common sense. There is a small percentage that are idiots without jobs or families who go out and burn effigies of people to channel unrelated anger. OTOH, most people are reactionary. In politics, and in cricket, we must have our false sense of "accountability" and the sound of heads rolling. If we are unhappy, "somebody gonna get hurt real bad". Hopefully someone in the BCCI has a brain.
