jf1gp_1 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt well most on this forum hate kaif but i still wish he was in WC squad. He knows his limitations and is willing to sweat it out. Not afraid to take a few blows but kaif can not finish the job he needs someone who can finish the job with kaif providing the support.

Kaif played really well at No.3 position. He is not an agressive as many but can rotate strike and can get teh scorecard ticking. If he was in form he would be the ideal captian! much better than Sehwag or Yuvaraj
jf1gp_1 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt If he was in form he would be the ideal captian! much better than Sehwag or Yuvaraj there is only one captain, ganguly. we all can keep banging our head against every wall in sight but i have no doubt we will see return of ganguly. He will win against BD and every single ganguly support will start shouting this how you beat BD. But it would be business as usual once we reach england.

ask4me Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt IF Reminds me of that TATA OK ad. Sachmuch kaafi bada hai... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: anyways, jokes apart. I think Kaif is a very good player within his limitations, that he very well knows (though I wont shy to call him stupid for all those "why not me?" kinda statements) and likes to sweat it out in the middle. Add to that, his brilliant fielding along with yuvi provides a moral booster on the field otherwise our team gets demoralized everytime the opponent hits a couple of boundaries, thanks to our over-all below average fielding. To be honest, his slow strike rate came in between him and the worldcup birth. He also got unlucky that we already had DRAVID (Must as a player and as captain), in the team and Dinesh karthik's selection (on merit ofcouse) routed his name out of the worldcup team; his poor scores in the last couple of series didnt helped either. I am calling him Unlucky since he being the consistant scorer during the last outing at WI should've been picked for the gala event. I still beleieve he should be picked in the team. But will that happen in near future is set to be seen and If he can be a potential captain has a BIG If in there to be ignored easily.

Bumper Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt If Kaif can regain his form and play well consistently, he's an ideal candidate to captian India. He has all the good qualities to motivate a team but the big if is whether he'll play well consistently Understand your good intentions. As much as u'd like to lineup a great captain here, whose primary qualification is to flunk with the bat (i mean how else, could you name Kaif for captaincy ?), we cannot really afford a 25 yr old in that role. Wait 5 more years, when Kaif becomes a washed up 30 yr old he'll make a great cappo with minimal damage to the side.

Sooda Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt I like Kaif but he is a lesser version of Kartik really. unlike kartik he can captain- still no reason to select him. we may as well go for Venu Kaif does need to learn how to find gaps better and score quicker... Raina is class. he just keeps throwing his wkt away which will go away with time and experience Yo M and Ishant are too young IMHO. Guys like Gagandeep and SS Paul deserve a look in before them- not that theyll get it. Ranadeb Bose anyone?? Any good young spinners...Piyush aside...what abt Ojha (i think thats the name -the chinaman bowler)??
Chandan Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt Guys like Gagandeep and SS Paul deserve a look in Do you want another leverock in the world cricket. Otherwise also, we didn't pick these guys when they were at their best. Whats the point in picking them now after they've lost the edge?
Parth Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt Khartik to replace Dhoni
KGWicK Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt They should make this a reality TV show... :hic: They actually do have show called "Cricket Star" on Sony Channel. It is very entertaining to watch. Basically, they went to four major cities and chose 11 players from each than they reduced it into 23 people and from there they are going to train them. The winner will be sent to England to play county cricket and from then on it will be his hard work and dedication that will lead him to international cricket. The show airs at 7:00 pm EST Mon to Friday.

Bumper, I agree with you that Kaif has not been consistent enough to deserve a berth for WC but the guy has played well in Ranji matches. He has got the experience needed to make a good come back. One of the challenges he faced in his career is he was shuffled in the batting order. He is not a hard hitter like Dhoni or Yuvaraj but the guy can play an anchor role if used properl. Just take the example of Zimbabwe tour when he played really well at No.3 spot. 26 years old is not too young to be a captian. If he has the characterstics of motivating others meaning bringing the best out of others and communicating things sharply he could easily turn out to be a good leader. This guy captianed u-19 to victory and also captianed India A several times. G Smith turned out to be the best captian for SA eventhough he's very young. But I recognize the fact that he needs to bat much better to be considered to this level and establish his place first. Honestly speaking he is a much better candidate to lead India (not at the moment but later) than Yuvaraj (who is reported in the media as Arrogant) and Sehwag (who has been reported having an attitude problem). Continue with Dravid for some more time and give a chance to Kaif if he develops. And yes that if is really big so to speak but how many others in the team are captian material?
koksmayu Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Re: Indian cricket talent Hunt rohit sharma s.badrinath ishant sharma excelent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
vvvslaxman Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Whoz our there? Whoz gonna take over when Tendulkar, Gangully and Dravid say good bye... Badrinath (a good middle order batsman) Gambir (Opener) Rohit Sharma ( all rounder) R Jadeja (all rounder) Yo Mahesh (pace bowler) I Sharma (pace bowler) Piyush Chawla (spinner) Who else? :cantstop:

Cricket Tragic Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Looks like the older members couldn't pick a team or quote posts. :headshake:
vvvslaxman Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Interestingly there is nowhere Kohli in this list. Infact Kohli had played just 6 first class matches around that time. This is how our future is also going to shape up.. some unknown dude will come and gatecrash for us
