amits
he has some sensational statistics while opening, but when not opening, he is worse than a tailender even. u would usually expect someone who avges 50+ with a sr of 127 while opening to do far better when not opening than what laxman has Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 0 4s 6s not as opener 6 6 0 21 10 3.50 38 55.26 0 0 2 1 1 as opener 4 4 1 153 52 50.33 120 127.50 0 1 0 22 1 so if laxman has to play any further part in the ipl, then he has to open
graphic23
just want to say that this is the best thread I've seen on ICF. Amits deserves to be in a Hall of Fame of great ICF posters (and he's from Delhi).

Gambit
If Laxy has to be played, he's got to bat no lower than #3 to maximise his utility and to take advantage of the field restrictions and smoke a few boundaries before he gets out.

amits
If Laxy has to be played' date=' he's got to bat no lower than #3 to maximise his utility and to take advantage of the field restrictions and smoke a few boundaries before he gets out.[/quote'] but he has struggled even at no.3. when opening, he finds gaps easily & smashes 4s comfortably in the 1st 6 overs. and after 6 overs, given the fact that he is well set, goes for runs after the powerplay & plays the type of innings required. so if laxman has to play, he has to open and maybe gibbs drop down to no.3 and the statistics dont seem to be those of the same player, even though it is 1 player who has managed those statistics. a plyaer who avges 50+ with a sr of 127.5 while should be expected to do better than get a avg of 3.5 when not opening

kumble_rocks
He should retire , he is a misfit in IPL ! After all, he has hit only 8 sixes in his entire test and ODI career combined.

The Realist
Laxman is embarassingly bad in T20 and should pack it in. Its not if he is young and will get better for the experience, he is only going to get worse as his reflexes get slower.
Rohan495
Good thread Amits, I mean no matter what you say or do just keep backing it up with stats because most people in the forums are not really in for stats or reality only here for dry sarcasm and bashing of players they dont favor, Theyre dry sarcasm has no substance and are bunch of jokers with no base of argument just a mere too old too slow to play 2020 cricket.
