Desi Cartman Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 whats the obsession with language ... even in North India if go to a village in Punjab or himachal and you'll find a lot of people who may not understand Hindi .. my own Dadi doesnt understand hindi and I dont understand what she says Who cares if its national or regional .. the good part is that when I go to Himachal I feel like Im one of them and when I talk to south Indians I again feel like Im one of them .. so whats the problem ..@ ICF as long as we can understand each other its ok and if we cant then we can ask the other person to translate .. whats the big deal :dontknow:

flamy Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 The insecurity stems from the fact that Hindi would be imposed on everyone when they'd have little use for it. And if they do not learn Hindi, they will be castigated because hey it is the national language. I posted an example from real life in this very thread. Assume that you wake up tomorrow and Malayalam is the national language of India.

It is my national language, and I'll respect Hindi that way.

The language issue was discussed before agreeing on Devegowda for the post of PM ...

A simple fact was stated in the thread- Hindi is one of the two official languages with the long term aim of becoming the only one according to the Indian Constitution. Why are people trying to falsify that fact?

Why are people trying to falsify that fact? because they disagree with it .. and I can understand why. How would I feel if tomorrow my kids living in delhi are forced to learn telegu ... I mean how will it help them get good jobs in Delhi ?
