Titans Sign Deal With Daredevils Titans sign deal with Daredevils May 21 2009 at 07:25AM By Neville Khoza Top young local cricketers will soon be getting a taste of the razzmatazz of the Indian Premier League following an announcement on Wednesday that the Eastern Titans have entered into a twinning relationship with the high-riding Delhi Daredevils. The Daredevils are one of the top performing teams in the IPL and are at the summit of the log while the Titans are the leading team in domestic cricket having collected no fewer than five titles in the past three seasons. Through this deal the two franchises will promote and support each other to establish a regular supply of young talent to become the feeder link to the senior teams. There is also a possibility of an annual fixture between the Titans and Daredevils. Titans franchise and Northern cricket union chairman Jesse Chellan said they were excited to have one of the best team's from India as their partners. "The world of cricket is evolving quickly and this partnership with the Daredevils will help position the Titans as a global brand, not only in Delhi and India, but across the world," said Chellan. "We hope not only to learn from the Daredevils but also to share the fundamentals of our success," said Chellan AB De Villiers, who has played an integral part in the Daredevils' success in the 2009 IPL, and also a player for the Titans, said he was looking forward to a successful relationship with the two franchises. "On behalf of the Daredevils we'd like to thank the Titans for this partnership and we hope we are going to have a special successful relationship in the future, we hope to make you proud by reaching the semi-finals and the final at the Wanderers Stadium on Sunday," said De Villiers "This is a unique partnership and both sides stand to benefit a great deal in the long term both in commercial and cricketing terms," said Elise Lombard, CEO of Titans. Daredevils and Titans will also organise coaching clinics for players with potential, besides sharing knowledge in respect of physical training, bio-mechanics, sports injuries and rehabilitation among other areas. There will also be exchanges involving support staff including the areas of marketing, IT and administration.
