Swine flu clouds India's tour to West Indies

Port Of Spain, June 20: As India and the West Indies gear up for their four-match ODI series starting June 26, a prestigious sporting event in the Caribbean was cancelled due to swine flu threat. The Caribbean Games was to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 12-19 but has now been cancelled to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus. Trinidad and Tobago has 18 confirmed cases of the virus and health authorities have warned of the likelihood of that figure increasing over the coming days. Two other events, the 2009 Girls` and Boys` Youth Cup football tournaments, scheduled to be hosted by Trinidad and Tobago next month and August have been postponed and cancelled, respectively, due to an outbreak of swine flu in the twin-island republic. India play the first two ODI matches at Sabina Park, Kingston on June 26 and 28. The next two matches would be played in St Lucia on July 3 and 5.

Madness. This is the same sort of medical expertise that oversaw Bob's first post mortem. The UK has had several hundred cases, and just one death, a women in childbirth, who had several other medical problems. Cancel Wimbledon, the Ashes? WI should consult some experts in the UK or USA before taking such silly decisions.
