The title is this: "140 killed in western China after Uighur riots and security crackdown" The article needn't say it, if you know geography and history of the region its quite evident that they want to reestablish East Turkestan. This is the stated goal of the Uighurs, the only problem is 50 years ago this could have been possible but now the area has a majority of Han Chinese transplants from the East. This is exactly how we should have solved the Kashmir issue, if India deems Kashmir to be an integral part of India it should have opened up the restive area to other 'Indians' to populate. Re population works wonders - there are numerous examples of this around the world.

But then there was special amendment added to the constitution by a Kashmiri Pandit himself, not allowing Indians to do just that. :nervous::nervous:

They didnt have a choice, the government (Congress) instituted very friendly laws to Muslims, the Hindus were facing increasingly hostile Muslim neighbors. If the government had loosened land ownership and allowed non Kashmiris to buy property you would have seen large scale movements from densely populated areas of India to Kashmir. The government basically stifled any possibility of anyone else owning property/land in Kashmir, thats why no one went. You can buy property anywhere else in India except Kashmir!

Heck , Pakis are totally silent on this matter. Our Parosi site vindicates my comments. Goes to show the hypocrisy of these Pakis . Heck , one Palestinian gets killed or a burqa gets banned in France , they will raise hue and cry but they are oblivious to the plight of Uighur muslims . Shame on them and some liberal posters here who feel the need to be outraged on a burqa ban in france , but choose to ignore this thread.

The official who identified herself as a government worker but refused to give her name said on Friday that the decision to close mosques had been made for public safety and that "people should stay at home today and pray." Separately, officials in Kashgar in southwestern Xinjiang have told visiting journalists that they and other foreigners had to leave the city.
