Dhondy Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Disgraceful coverage by Siddharth Monga on Cricinfo. Both analyses so far on Pakistan. Ignore the headline, and you'll think SL didn't even feature in the match. A litany of excuses rolled out for Pakistan- their lack of Test match practice, umpire Harper's decision making...He even has the gall to mention Tendulkar's inside out shot versus Pakistan at Chennai in the same breath as Younis' harakiri exhibit. This man is a disgrace.

This man is a disgrace. Agreed. In fact, the whole series has been marketed as Pakistan vs. Someotherrandomnationnoonecaresabout. Its been rather terrible. Dhondy Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Dhoni makes a very important point when India don't do well. He says that it's important that key players do well. That lifts the team, enthuses juniors and sets a benchmark for the future. When Misbah came on the scene and after a couple of Akmal's innings against India and one in SA, Pakistan must have felt that they had a middle order to last them a generation. Akmal has failed in all the four innings so far. Misbah hasn't done much better. Yousuf scored one fortuitous ton after being out at least twice and Younis has just one knock to show for in the series- the one today. Even he was out LBW yesterday, not given. At the start of this match, I was exhorting the Pakistani openers to just stay there and see off the new ball, so that Younis, Yousuf and co could get a chance to display their wares. They really had looked like rabbit caught in the headlights against the SL medium pacers in the 2nd innings at Galle and the first innings here. That happened in the second innings. Both openers did hugely well, saw off the new ball, and Younis and Alam then sawthe team through to the 2nd new ball. As soon as the second new ball was taken though, it was clear that none of the Pakistani middle order bats had the faintest idea how to play either pacer or spinner. As a captain, Younis should have known this, That reverse sweep to the part timer, with the 2nd new ball approaching, was criminal. Quite clearly he has no insight into the frailties of his own team members.
Dhondy Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Just read this piece by Sa'di Tawfeeq, which has just appeared on CI, to get a look in into Sangakkara's thinking. The guy makes Younis Khan look like a cretin, honestly. http://www.cricinfo.com/slvpak2009/content/current/story/414453.html In particular, don't miss his assessment of the Pakistani cricketers' psyche. You can write long essays but you won't come close to what the man sums up in a few words. I quote: Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara has said his team had expected Pakistan to crack as long as they remained focused on staying in the game, something they hadn't done on the second day. "We've always known that about Pakistan. It's just the case of how long we can continuously exert pressure on them. The key is not to give them too many runs but hold them in as much as possible until that one crack appears and then try and dominate.
Anakin Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 With all due respect, after this performance I just can't see how you can call Pak a team of uncertainties.

observer1 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I am not usually given to hyperbole, but, WTF was the Pak batting all about in this game? Reminds me of the early and mid-80s England collapses against the West Indies - you never knew WHEN, but always knew it was round the corner - unpredictable, but yet so predictable. Younis Khan seems a nice chap, but writing stuff on cricket balls isnt exactly cerebral. He must be the second worst leader in Test cricket (just above Strauss). Pak desperately needs a good captain. Umar Gul?

Never ever count Pakistan out of any match :crazy4::crazy4::crazy4:. We are the best fighting cricket team out there, flamboyant cricketers, the most unpredictable and that what makes us the most exciting team to follow. Had there been any other team, minnows like NZ or India, they would have been bundled out by now and had lost it by an inning. Just wanted to add salt in the wounds before our team get in any sort of trouble again :cantstop::cantstop::cantstop::winky: Got a good feeling we will win this one. & on Pakistani forums ppl don't give a rat what neighbors post about them on foreign forums. I barely see people mentioning any Indian forum on Pakistani forums. Ravi, I deserve a few ICF dollars for lifting the readership of the site. It's obvious that these rats were reading the thread in droves, fuming with fury at the home truths being rammed down their furry throats but didn't have the courage to come out and face the music. The moment their side has fluked a day of good cricket, they have emerged from the shadows and are swarming all over the place, trying to spread the plague that shrouds their own bills and burrows. Looks like this thread hit home in spectacular fashion.:hysterical: BY FAR the most interesting thread, it seemed like A slap, then a slap and a big 'chamaat' The 2 posters above must have repented on their posts, must be so untrue that they would almost feel that Dhondy fixed the match to save this thread My sources tell me that Dhony did fix it and his account is now $50 Million Richer

Dhondy Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 OK, not quite, but it feels the same, after three years of utter poverty.

Rajiv Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I really wish there were some odds available, as soon as I saw pak going to lunch after YK got out..I was like there is going to be a major collapse and I will read it in the morning I woke up expecting to see a headline like mendis rocks pakistan, but as soon as I read kulasekra with my one eye open..I knew it but then..they chased it down in the same day - that was something
vvvslaxman Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Pakistan fans are proud of the fact they are unpredictable.
