I am trying to find someone who has been there and can suggest me a good hotel ..

I stayed in a place called Jhelum Resorts for a day. It was pretty decent - around Rs. 2000-2500 IIRC. They had quoted Rs. 3000, but you can easily negotiate 20-30% in off season.

Parents will be using the helicopter service while I and mrs will be walking so its better to stay in katra so parents can wait for us. I know its crowded but I'm trying to find a decent hotel just outside the city
