The next year, there were four cars in Bombay, one of them owned by Jamshedji Tata and the other three also by Parsis. The question is specifically about the first car in Mumbai. Can't be ford. The model T was launched in 1908. This was most likely a European car. All American manufacturers started in the first decade of the 20th century.

I don't know about that particular model.. but from wiki, it seems electric cars dominated the scene before 1920s. Even if it is required, you can always bring tonnes of fuel on bullock carts.. besides they wouldnt use car for daily commute... it would be more like - once in a blue moon, they would go out on a drive.

Do you know what the fuel was being used for otherwise? no other vehicles obviously, the juhu airport came much later so probably from the port?

But was he importing the fuel or was he sourcing it from within the country. And if the fuel was available in the country what was it being used for?
