Completely disagree. In fact, I feel they gave too many chances to useless players of South Asian origin. Mark Ramprakash played 52 Tests for a grand total of 2 hundreds and an average of 27. Too long a rope!

Hm not sure how he got a raw deal, Monty would have played this test had he not been injured. It was never likely that they would drop Swann for him as the lone spinner though maybe they should have

Was Monty injured? When Swann announced his retirement he was asked who he thought should take his place. He anointed Scott Borthwick because 'he was a good lad'. Never mind that Monty was the back up spinner on tour. So what did the selectors do? They called up not one but two spinners from back home in Borthwick and Tredwell. By now whatever was left of Monty's confidence must have been in tatters. In the 4th innings run defence at Melbourne, who did Cook turn to for spin? Root got the nod. You'd be hard pushed to even call him a part-time bowler. At Sydney, Monty dropped in favour of Borthwick who is something like 16th in the bowling averages in country cricket. This is not just about Monty's skill level. It's about treating an individual like a piece of dung.
