if dravid can take all the catches coming his way and make some half-decent stops... then isn't he a better option than say rohit sharma? for the 2011 WC?
Rohit Sharma is utter tripe at this point. His talent is never in question, but motivation/commitment are suspect. Healthy competition is always good regardless of age!

Pathetic article .. Just stating the obvious :wall: PS: Manjrekar is not an expert.
If Manjrekar was taken seriously, Tendulkar would have been dropped long ago. SM is an idiot. In short term, we need Dravid for CT. His record in SA has been excellent. In long term, Dravid will gave to make way for new players for WC 2011.

Please' date=' you guys do Manjrekar a disservice. I read on this board that his criticisms have been responsible for some of Tendulkar's best innings, as without Manjrekar's comments SRT can't motivate himself to perform![/quote'] Really, who was the wise one that came up with that gem?

ANother one who's probably known him as well as anyone - Sanjay Manjrekar , a fellow Mumbaikar at great personal and professional risk..vents out http://www.rediff.com/cricket/2008/feb/25manj.htm
"Another problem that India have these days when they bat second on a good pitch, is that their most experienced batsman, who bats at such an influential position in the batting order, becomes almost redundant," he wrote in his column for the Times of India. Tendulkar has failed to get going in the ongoing tri-series having managed just 128 runs in seven matches at a lowly average of 18.28. Manjrekar also pointed out that in the last 51 One-day internationals, Tendulkar's batting average when he bats first is 62.10 in 24 innings. In contrast when he bats second, it's 26.00 in 27 innings The former Mumbai batsman also seem puzzled as to why no one is talking about Tendulkar's poor form. Senior pros like Rahul Dravid [images] and Sourav Ganguly [images] were shown the door from the ODI team after a few failures and youngsters were inducted in their place. 'But with Tendulkar, it's like the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about,' Manjrekar writes. Manjrekar believes that Tendulkar seems to let the team down the most when chasing big targets.
SRT took this really to heart and then fired in the finals of that CB - first time after a LONG LONG time.

There are different categories of critics Some never criticize any players Some occasionally point out something and praise rest of the time Some tries to balance out Some tries to criticize more frequently Some criticize or praise by hour (Ian Chappell) Their tone would keep on changing based on how they play every hour. Nothing wrong with balanced criticism. Nobody is above reproach.
